Brief:
T' Estes GBU-24 Paveway Model Rocket Kit is one o' four new Estes "Military" kits recently released and is by far t' most unique o' t' group. Begad! I purchased all four kits as soon as I saw them in t' store and had it built and flown in no time. Avast! Well, matey, blow me down! It's an 18mm kit with a fantastic look and great flight characteristics which made it a "must have" for me silo.
Construction:
You can purchase either t' bagged or Launchable version o' t' kit from many retailers. In t' package you will find die-cut fins, body tube, me bucko, tailcone and transition, shiver me timbers, plastic nosecone, recovery items, and instructions. Ya scallywag! I be impressed with t' quality o' components and t' instructions were very well written. Well, blow me down! Moreover, You really get your money's worth with this kit as it is both challengin' and satisfyin' t' build.
I decided t' build it stock with only minor changes. Aye aye! Blimey! I used dual Keelhaul®©™ threads for shock cord and made one other minor change. Avast! Blimey! T' top o' t' transition was left on instead o' bein' cut off. Arrr! Blimey! Avast, arrr, me proud beauty! Blimey! In t' instructions, you are supposed t' cut this "cap" off, shiver me timbers, arrr, then glue in t' upper part o' t' shock cord usin' tri-fold and slip t' cord through t' center o' t' transition. T' transition is then glued on t' t' lower part o' t' upper body tube.
I deviated from this because t' nosecone is small and glued on t' top o' t' BT with Plastic cement. Ya scallywag! More than once have I seen this method separate t' nosecone from t' BT on other models. Well, blow me down! Ya scallywag! For this reason, I left t' transition capped so t' charge would go no further than it, shiver me timbers, matey, thus nay pressurizin' t' nosecone chamber.
