Brief:
This is a comparison review o' Aerotech’s new G79W, shiver me timbers, arrr, includin' t' new 29/120 RMS case.

Construction:

Although this product be introduced at LDRS 23 in July 2004, matey, me bucko, me hearties, me casin' (S/N 037) has a manufacturin' date o' 1/8/02. Begad! This product be obviously in the works for a while. Ya scallywag! T' case is new and is nay interchangeable with the 29/40-120, shiver me timbers, but t' closures are t' same as those used with t' 29mm high power cases. Ya scallywag!

T' reload kit is a typical AT reload so I won't go into the details--liners, insulators, matey, shiver me timbers, O-rings, me bucko, two slugs, matey, etc. Avast! Here is a comparison between t' G79 and t' G80:

T' main trade-offs include:

• You have t' build t' motor instead o' just slappin' t' single use G80 in.
• Loaded motor is slightly heavier and just a hair less oomph than t' G80.
• Longer than t' G80, which is a problem if you used a (evil) motor block.
• T' longer delays may or may nay be beneficial t' you. Blimey! I'd rather have a -4 than a -14. (I overbuild, me bucko, what can I say?)
• Much better igniter with t' reload. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! I'll be dippin' fewer igniters than before.
• T' reloads are much cheaper. Begad! I hear t' G80s are headed up in price again.

Flight:
I have flown this twice...and I like it. Lots o' white smoke like me beloved G80FWLs. Avast! Blimey! Arrr! Blimey! I do have two observations:

1. T' delay components all fit together easily, shiver me timbers, shiver me timbers, whereas on t' 38mm RMS it takes some effort (very little, shiver me timbers, me bucko, but some) t' get it together. Begad! Begad! A good example is the delay spacer--this one fell right in. Begad! Ya scallywag! On t' 38mm RMS I have t' work them in.
2. T' threads o' t' forward closure were t' dirtiest I've ever seen in an RMS (post flight, me hearties, o' course). Ya scallywag! Avast! Also, thar was lots o' gunk betwixt t' liner and t' case on t' forward end. Aye aye! T' aft end was nay unusually dirty.

I will monitor T' Rocketry Forum t' see what other people’s experiences are.

Summary:
I am ecstatic about this product release. I love G80s and t' G79 is a lot cheaper. Avast! Blimey! (Not as cheap as $10 G80-FWLs from Magnum, but those days are gone for good.) In more good news, matey, arrr, AT has promised Redline loads soon. Begad! Blimey! (I though I saw Blue Thunder reloads too, matey, shiver me timbers, but cannot find t' reference.)
