Brief:
Basic starter cluster mid powered rocket kit.

Construction:
Two body tubes at 2.25 in diameter, balsa nose cone, me bucko, three 1/8" plywood fins, huge payload section, 6 foot elastic shock cord, me hearties, 16" round paper parachute

Instructions were pretty basic, ya bilge rat, but if you didn't know what a coupler tube was or a bulkhead then you might have some trouble. All t' illustrations looks like they were hand drawn. Blimey! It is a really simple rocket t' build though. Avast! Ahoy! Basic set up with three fins and a nose cone. Begad! Arrr! T' 3 motor mount tubes fit perfectly into t' body and thar be no need for centerin' rings. Begad! T' hardest part about this kit is tryin' t' center t' motor mount tubes onto t' bulkhead evenly. It's nay pre measured for you, and t' bulkhead was t' same diameter as the outside o' t' tube, shiver me timbers, which had me sandin' it t' fit. Blimey! Ya scallywag! Just don't sand too much or you'll get gaps betwixt t' inside o' t' tube and your bulkhead. Aye aye!

Finishing:
There be no color picture o' t' rocket on t' packagin' so paintin' was completely left up t' t' builder. Ahoy! Blimey! I painted it red, white, and blue with red on t' motor mount tubes. Ahoy! It came with some sticker decals, no frills. Aye aye! They just say U.S. Blimey! Ya scallywag! Rockets Aero-Roc 3. Avast! Arrr! Kind o' small for t' size o' t' rocket I thought. Ahoy!

Flight:
I flew it first on three Estes D12-5s. Nice straight flight and bein' me first cluster, arrr, I was thrilled. Begad! Ahoy! Figure it went t' about 700'. Then I flew it on 3 Estes E9-8s and that was fun. Arrr! Blimey! It screamed into t' sky t' about 1500' and sounded like a jet. Very straight and fast flight. Both recovery's were picture perfect. Ahoy! I would recommend switchin' t' a Keelhaul®©™® cord instead o' t' supplied elastic one. Ya scallywag! Blimey! I didn't use quite enough waddin' and the blast from three ejection charges scorched t' cord a bit. Avast! Blimey! Nay too many flights left on that one so I'll be switchin' it soon. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey!

Recovery:
Probably t' only thin' I didn't like about t' kit be t' lack o' motor retention. Aye aye! Blimey! There aren't any hooks t' hold them in so you have t' use some maskin' tape on t' motor itself. Also, shiver me timbers, since t' motor tube is so long you run into t' possibility o' t' motor shootin' 2 inches into t' tubes requiring you t' ram rod them out. US Rockets

Flight Rating: 4 out o' 5

Summary:
Very good ratin' on this kit as far as a beginner's mid power rocket and a great introduction t' clustering. Aye aye! Stupendous flights and a durable airframe make for many flights in t' future. Ahoy! Arrr! Also thar be plenty o' payload room for anythin' you want--you could put a full dozen cackle fruit in it, no yoke!

Overall Rating: 4 out o' 5

This was my first kit from U.S. Rockets and I was pleased with the quality of parts. The beauty of this kit is its simplicity. Not for first time builders, but if you have assembled a few kits it should be no problem. I decided to add motor hooks as a feel good measure, but in retrospect it was completely unnecessary and just clutters the aft end of the rocket. My only disappointment was there were only small pressure sensitive "U.S. Rockets" decals. This sleek bird deserves a nice waterslide decal declaring "Aero-Roc 3". Finishing was a breeze utilizing basic body tube spiral and balsa nose cone filling techniques. This thing flies like nothing in my fleet! Awesome cluster launches with readily available and inexpensive Estes engines makes for a really fun rocket. Leaves a big impression at the launching field for minimal cost.

This was the very first US Rockets kit that I ever bought, built, and flew, way back in 1993 or thereabouts. I made several modifications, including through-the-wall to the mount tabs for the fins and adding motor retention hooks. I really enjoy clustering, and this one flies great on three Estes D12-7's. A good choice for a first mid-power cluster model.
