Estes Blurzz with Speed Readout

Full Product Name: Blurzz Rocket Race Funny Car With Digital Speedometer

Brief:
I got t' new funny car rocket racer solely because it had a speedometer attached. Avast! Well, blow me down! T' car is modeled after funny race cars and comes as t' car shell only–-you have t' have t' Blurzz rocket powered race set. Ya scallywag! I now own two, shiver me timbers, mainly t' race against each other. Arrr! Well, blow me down! This review is for t' blue car.

Construction:
T' car comes pre-made. Avast, ya bilge rat, me proud beauty! Blimey! It does nay have an engine mount included, me hearties, which is a bit cheap o' Estes, matey, but it does stop you from launchin' on a homemade track. Well, blow me down! Blimey! That could be dangerous.

T' engine mount design has altered since t' first initial rocket car be introduced, and t' funny car will only work with t' latest design. Begad! Estes will provide t' latest engine mount for free, but you have t' rin' them or go on their website.

Estes Blurzz with Speed Readout T' speedometer is located on t' top o' t' car and alternates betwixt mph and kph. Blimey! Arrr! It works by a light sensor near t' aft wheel o' t' car. Blimey! T' aft wheel is half silver and half black, me hearties, and by rotating, shiver me timbers, t' speed o' t' car is calculated. Arrr! T' speed is scale and nay real speed. Aye aye! Personally I would like t' have seen t' real speed that t' car travels at.

Estes seemed t' have learned their lesson from t' Tuner car, shiver me timbers, and t' front launch lugs are much better. There is little chance that t' car will come off t' line now.

Finishing:
T' cars come in three finishes: Red/orange, Blue\White, and Yellow/Black. Aye aye! Arrr! Apart from that, matey, thar be no difference betwixt t' three.

Flight:
Preppin' t' tuner car for "flight" involves placin' a A10-PT motor in t' engine mount. Begad! This mount is attached t' t' cord. Avast, me proud beauty! T' car is then attached t' t' mount. Arrr! Well, blow me down! T' speedometer needs t' be reset by pressin' t' button on top. Avast! Do this when t' car is about t' be launched, and make sure you don't knock t' car or you will get a false reading.

T' first launch was terrible. Well, blow me down! Aye aye! T' car flipped half way down t' track and continued upside down, shiver me timbers, damagin' t' finish o' t' car. Arrr! T' cord was nay tight enough.

I tightened t' cord, shiver me timbers, arrr, checked out t' path, and had seven perfect launches after that.

T' average scale speed for t' blue car was 457 mph, but this ranged from 333mph t' 610mph. Avast! Well, me bucko, blow me down! Given that t' track was unaltered betwixt launches, me hearties, one can only assume that t' engines differ.

Across both cars and t' 13 "flights" so far, shiver me timbers, t' average is 534mph rangin' from 333mph t' 694mph.

Estes Blurzz with Speed Readout T' car is a lot faster than t' tuner car and t' parachute is definitely needed.

Flight Rating: 4 out o' 5

Summary:
T' Estes funny car is an improvement on t' tuner, me bucko, matey, and t' speedometer really does highlight t' difference in performance that an Estes A10-PT motor delivers.

A new product for 2003 from Estes is the new Blurzz Rocket Race Car. This is an actual rocket car powered by a special A10-PT (plugged) 13mm black powder rocket motor. It runs down a 90 foot long race line which appears to be a type of tubular nylon and uses a drag chute to stop safely. Each Blurzz Rocket Car comes as a complete setup (similar to a rocket starter set) which includes the ...

Brief: Rocket powered Race Car that runs along a 90ft race line. On my last trip to Wal-Mart looking for new Estes kits, I noticed an attractive box on the self for the new Estes Blurzz Rocket Powered Racer. The box had a hologram of the racer in action with a button under it, so I pushed it. The sound of race cars filled the toy section, and the announcer said: Quote: "Race at the ...

Although I don't remember my age, I do remember in my youth building a scratch rocket car. I purchased RC Airplane wheels and used existing rocket tubing. I had 1 wheel on the front and two wide-spread wheels on the back. I eventually launched it on an 18mm motor and the car proceeded to take off forward then commenced to flip, cartwheel, tumble and everything else except stay on the ground. ...
