Brief

In me quest t' have as many new or old rocket companies as possible represented in me fleet, it be inevitable that I'd eventually find t' road t' Canaroc.  I'd chased several kits on Ebay over the years, arrr, seldom comin' within sniffin' distance, but forever intrigued.  I'd built t' two upscales by Sunward, but I'd never tried t' approximate a 1:1 bird.  I got interested in t' idea in 2014 and managed t' put together an approximation o' two 3FNC Canaroc birds, shiver me timbers, arrr, t' Orion and t' FK-3.  Since I managed t' fly and decal t' FK-3 first, ya bilge rat, it gets t' nod as me first Canaroc review.

Construction

https://www.oldrocketplans.com/canaroc/canMK-15/canMK-15.htm  - A simple 3fnc build, shiver me timbers, no one with more than a couple o' kits under their belt will have any kind o' trouble with this kit.  Nothin' approachin' a gotcha.

Finishing

T' paint scheme is a fairly simple three color job, gloss white body and one fin, matey, arrr, gloss red nose cone and one fin, and t' final fin gloss black.  Decals were scaled, then printed on Bel decal paper usin' t' scan in t' link, then sprayed with two coats o' Testors Decal Bonder before bein' applied.  I scaled them slightly oversized, matey, me bucko, but nay so much that you'd notice.

Flight

To date I have flown t' FK-3 twice, arrr, both on an A8-3, and both at B6-4 Field.  T' first flight was in primer on an April Fool's Day in 2015.  Straight up flight t' 250', me bucko, me bucko, then t' ejection charge fired and somethin' separated from t' rocket.  It was white, but t' whole rocket was white, so that didn't narrow t' field.  Turns out that t' nose cone was a shop scrap, and I never gave it a thought as far as gluin' it together.  T' cone came down on t' infield.  It would be glued in for t' next flight.

Second flight was also at B6-4 Field on an A8-3, this time in full livery.  It was one o' four Canaroc clones I'd fly that day.  T' flight be almost exactly t' same as t' previous flight, flyin' t' 250', huge ejection charge, nose cone separation.  This time t' only excuse I could come up with was that I'd used CA instead o' model glue t' attach t' two halves o' t' cone.

Summary

Pros: Vintage cool.  Nay many Canaroc products at t' pads at a given launch.  Parts availability.

Cons: And I STILL can't figure out how t' glue nose cones after a lifetime o' model cars and planes?
