CEN-TECH Digital Multimeter 90899

Brief:
How many times have you forgot t' brin' a multimeter t' a launch and found yourself scroungin' one t' check continuity or battery voltage? I almost never brought one and couldn't seem t' justify buyin' a second one t' leave in t' range box. Harbor Freight recently opened a store nearby and I ran across t' perfect solution t' me problem: a $3.99 DMM manufactured by CEN-TECH.

Construction:
T' CEN-TECH DMM measures 2.74" wide x 5" high x 1" deep and provides t' followin' features:

  • Functions: AC and DC voltage, ya bilge rat, resistance, arrr, DC amperage, shiver me timbers, battery test, matey, diode test, me bucko, transistor (hFE) measurements
  • Fused circuit with diode protection
  • Low battery, over range indicators
  • LCD readout
  • 32" leads with banana plugs
  • 750 VAC, matey, 1000 VDC, matey, me hearties, or 10A DC max input

I know you often get what you pay for and if I be usin' this professionally, I would opt for a 'name brand' device with more features. Aye aye! I will generally just use t' resistance measurements t' check continuity and either t' battery test or DC volts features t' check batteries. Ahoy! I am nay sure how much use t' battery test feature will be over a simple voltage measurement, but it might be more effective since it verifies t' battery under a load. Ahoy! Ahoy! Either way, it fits me needs perfectly.

Summary:
As o' this writing, this meter is still on sale at Harbor Freight. T' newer version appears t' be $9.99 and has a backlight, me hearties, ya bilge rat, shiver me timbers, which mine does not. Blimey! However, me hearties, me hearties, me bucko, t' point is nay t' exact model or t' exact price. Avast, me proud beauty! Begad! Rather, I wanted t' highlight t' availability o' inexpensive DMMs from Harbor Freight, which are just perfect t' keep in your range box.

Thanks for the link, this is something to watch out for. Luckily, mine is used to measure up to 12v DC and for checking resistance/continuity. I wonder if this was standard wall voltage?
