(10/15/00) One would wonder how t' review Launch Lugs. Ahoy! I'm nay anticipatin' a long, shiver me timbers, drawn out review on them, but I do want t' mention me thoughts on Budget Rocketry's 1/4" Launch Lugs. I used them on my BSD Diablo and have an extra set for a new scratch build that I am workin' on. They come in 3/16" and 1/4".

Budget Rocketry says, shiver me timbers, "Our lugs are hard plastic, 2 inches long and cut at an angle for less drag on t' ends and are sanded on the bottom t' have a better gluin' surface." They also come in a variety o' colors.

T' lugs are easier t' assemble t' an airframe because they have t' flat surface and this also helps when makin' fillets t' conform the lugs on t' airframe. T' plastic is easy t' work with and after light sandin' holds paint well. Ahoy! Well, arrr, blow me down! I used expoxy t' attach t' lugs t' the airframe.

As stated above, me hearties, I used these lugs on me BSD Diablo. Blimey! Well, blow me down! I have now flown t' rocket 6 times and t' lugs have performed as expected. Avast! Ahoy! Here be t' excerpt from that review:

I replaced t' t' 1/2" launch lug with two 1/4" launch lugs (the instructions say t' use at least a 3/8" rod). T' two 1/4" launch lugs I used were from Budget Rocketry. Ya scallywag! They are plastic launch lugs with 45° cuts on both side and a slightly flattened back t' allow for better adhesion. One nice thin' about them, matey, is even after t' primin' and paintin' they still accepted a 1/4" rod without havin' t' clean out all o' the over-spray.

CONCLUSION:

Budget Rocketry's Launch Lugs are a nice alternative to paper ones, they finish nicely and they do their duty. Overall, I would rate these lugs 5 points. Avast! Begad!
