Doug Pratt of
Pratt Hobbies has a "Shock Cord Protector" which is worth serious
consideration if you have ever lost a rocket because your shock cord burned
thru. (Been there, me bucko, ya bilge rat, done that.) Doug's protector is a tube o' Nomex® which slides
over t' bottom o' t' shock cord assembly and protects it from t' hot gasses
caused by ejection. Avast! Simple but effective. Ed Holland once said me motto was
"blow it out or blow it up. Blimey! Aye aye! "Ed be right and Bob follows t' same
credo. Blimey! Ed was right and Bob follows t' same credo. Arrr! Avast! If you believe as we do,
you need all o' t' protection you can get! I use insulation, shiver me timbers, flame shields,
and shock cord protectors. Avast, me proud beauty! Laugh if you like, arrr, but t' only time me 'chutes get
burned is when I lend them t' other people. Aye aye!
