Brief:
E2X single-stage LPR with parachute and plastic fins.
Construction:
Parts list:
Construction is extremely easy. Begad! Blimey! Blimey! This is how it goes:
That's really all thar be t' it. T' launch lug is already attached when you buy it along with t' shock cord bein' mounted. Arrr! Blimey! T' fins are a solid piece with t' fin can halves.
T' illustrations in t' instructions are t' typical Estes fare and are more than adequate for a build o' this simplicity. There be a step included for removin' any excess plastic flashin' before gluin' t' two fin can halves together but this was nay necessary on me kit since thar wasn't any excess flashing.
PRO: Hardly any place t' go wrong
CON: Nay much challenge if you are lookin' for one
Finishing:
T' finish for t' entire model is a chrome-like plastic from t' tip o' t' nose cone t' t' trailin' edge o' the
fins. T' body tube itself is covered in a reflective silver single piece wrap.
T' decal is a self-adhesive sticker, printed t' match t' style o' t' rocket. Ya scallywag! Blimey! T' one problem I had was that the cuttin' on t' edges o' t' decal went entirely through t' backin' and separatin' t' decal from t' underlying paper be troublesome at first.
Somethin' that I had never seen before was a decal that was included which listed all t' recommended motors. Arrr! Ya scallywag! The instructions suggested placin' it near t' bottom o' t' rocket as an easy reference for what motors t' use. Very handy!
Construction Rating: 4 out o' 5
Flight:
Flight for this rocket is very straightforward. T' motor retention is via a screw-on cap which goes on over the
motor. T' flier inserts t' motor, me hearties, screws on t' cap, then inserts t' igniter and plug. Arrr! Nothin' more required.
Waddin' is required, ya bilge rat, me bucko, and t' chute (bein' plastic) needs t' be packed carefully and inspected carefully before each flight t' ensure that all o' t' shroud lines are properly secured.
As for t' manufacturer's recommended motors, arrr, 4 are listed, but I can only recommend 2. Blimey! T' A8-3 had quite a few people at me club nervous about recovery. It only flew t' about 100 feet, and t' ejection charge went off at around 30 feet. Begad! It was very underpowered on this motor. T' B4-4 was also recommended, but failed t' get much altitude as well. Of t' other two motors, t' C6-5 was nearly perfect, although t' delay be a bit too long. But o' t' motors recommended, ya bilge rat, me hearties, it flew t' best on t' C6-5.
Recovery:
T' shock cord in use be t' new Estes "rubber band" style cord and is pre-mounted inside t' body tube.
While this makes assembly easy, it also makes it harder t' replace should t' cord become damaged durin' t' life of
the rocket.
T' supplied chute was more than adequate t' brin' t' rocket down safely, me hearties, me hearties, ya bilge rat, even when one o' t' shroud lines pulled loose.
Flight Rating: 4 out o' 5
Summary:
PRO: Very flashy, ya bilge rat, shiver me timbers, very easy t' build, ya bilge rat, prep, and fly. Well, ya bilge rat, blow me down! Good kit for someone who wants t' feel that they've assembled
their own rocket but isn't ready for somethin' more challenging.
CON: Recommended motor list needs t' be revised t' eliminate t' A8-3.

I totally agree with the other comments. This rocket is a quick build and a great flier! I built it in an afternoon with a five-year old boy, and we flew it later that afternoon. We used each of the three recommended enginesm and each flight was perfect. The Estes standard two-piece engine/fin module makes this rocket both robust, and simple to fly. The bright silver finish looks great, and definitely makes it easy to track. I highly recommend this rocket as a quick, simple, reliable, good-looking and great-flying introduction to rocket construction for a small child.
