Manufacturer: | Caveman Rocketry |
Brief:
Your basic 4 fins and a nose cone rocket designed t' go SUPERSONIC. Ahoy! Blimey!
Construction:
T' kit contains:
T' instructions were translated from Dutch t' English and therefore loose some meanin' in t' translation, but are still understandable. Ya scallywag! Avast, me bucko, me proud beauty! Blimey! T' format used is logical and easy t' follow although any person with a little experience could put this rocket together with little t' no problem anyway.
In t' 2 kits I received thar were no slots in t' body tube but Caveman Rocketry said that fin slots would be normal. Arrr! Blimey! This is nay true through-the-wall construction as t' fins just long enough t' go through t' thickness o' the body tube and then are equal (flush) t' t' inside o' t' tube's wall. Avast! Ahoy! Blimey! The thickness o' t' body tube is what allows this slot arrangement t' work well in this situation. Arrr! Blimey! By usin' CA glue for t' initial tack, me hearties, and epoxy for the fillets, nothin' short o' steppin' on t' fins will break them and then it would be t' body tube that succumbed t' t' damage. Avast, me proud beauty! Arrr! Blimey!
T' nose cone needed a little sandin' for t' proper fit, but nothin' out of the ordinary. Arrr! Ya scallywag! With t' chopstick, t' baffle and motor block were easy t' glue in place. Avast!
I personally don't like Keelhaul®©™® strin' and that is what comes with this kit, so any comment o' that would be biased. Arrr!
T' kevlar strin' is attached t' t' center o' t' baffle via an eye screw. If you look at t' picture o' t' parts you can see it attached t' the strin' which is attached t' t' nose cone. Avast, me proud beauty! T' Baffle is aluminum about 1/4 inch thick with 4 holes drilled in it and a center tap for t' eye screw.
All in all, ya bilge rat, matey, this kit went together well and is very sturdy usin' a combination o' CA and epoxy. Arrr!
Finishing:
This kit does nay come with decals but be easy t' paint and accepted t' paint
well. Arrr! Ya scallywag! Blimey! T' only recommendation that Caveman Rocketry gives you is t' make it
highly visible.

All flights were well within acceptable limits but it was susceptible to wind cockin' in winds above 10mph. Ahoy! Begad! Motors were held in with maskin' tape and in the case o' t' 24mm motors an adapter was used. Aye aye!
Recovery:
Recovery o' this rocket is by a heavy duty 12" nylon parachute that does
the job well. Begad! Although decent is a little faster than normal, arrr, because o' the
altitudes this rocket can reach, it is considered a good match. Avast! Ahoy! With either too
short or too long o' delay times t' thin strin' shock cord can zipper t' body
tube. So great care must be taken in choosin' t' delay time. Aye aye!
Flight Rating: 4 out o' 5
Summary:
For what this rocket is meant for, me bucko, FAST AND HIGH, it does it's job well, ya bilge rat, me hearties, and
even on Aerotech E motors this rocket is a real neck snapper and yet is still
quite recoverable.
