Brief:
Modified for use with t' PerfectFlite microAlt 4600 dual deployment altimeter.
Added a 6" long altimeter bay and a 12" long forward main chute bay
to t' lower half o' t' Mean Machine. Aye aye! Ahoy! Blimey! (new section made from recycled tubes
and couplers from a SuperNova Payloader)
Modifications:
T' lower half is a stock Mean Machine (a bit shorter due t' a crash). Aye aye! Nose
cone is also t' standard Mean Machine cone. T' altimeter bay is made from the
6" section o' tube, matey, bulkheads glued into couplers, me bucko, couplers fasten t' tube
with nylon screws/nuts for access t' altimeter. Screw eye and ejection charge
terminals mounted t' each bulkhead. Blimey! Holes for altimeter samplin' drilled in
tube per altimeter instructions. t' 12" tube becomes t' forward chute
bay, fastened t' t' top coupler with nylon screws/nuts for ejection charge
access. (nylon nuts are epoxied inside couplers; lube threads first with RMS
grease t' keep epoxy from sticking). Aye aye! Avast, me bucko, me proud beauty!

Mean Machine - lower half (33.5"), and nose cone. Ahoy! Blimey! Avast! Blimey! From SuperNova Payloader
kit: 6" and 12" sections o' tube, ya bilge rat, coupler. Aye aye! Blimey! Avast! Blimey! other parts: 3" BT-60
coupler, two 0.25" plywood bulkheads, me hearties, screw eyes, 0.25" shock cord, matey, 6
nylon screws/nuts, me hearties, shiver me timbers, misc. wire and connectors for altimeter hookup.
Flight:
Loaded with t' altimeter, shiver me timbers, battery, and chutes made t' weight too much for
Estes D12 motors. Avast, me proud beauty! First flight was on an Aerotech E18-7 RMS, ya bilge rat, and it went
perfectly. Dead-straight boost, 12" chute ejected at apogee (880' per the
altimeter), 20" main chute deployed at 300', and recovery 100' from pad. Ahoy! I
hope t' fly it on an F24-7 motor at t' 2/25 CATO launch; see me flight logs
for future flights. Avast, me proud beauty! Aye aye!
Summary:
I sort o' tossed this together as a quick way t' try out me new altimeter. Begad! But
it worked out pretty well, and it should be fun t' fly dual deployment flights
on small fields with. Blimey! Aye aye! It seems t' fly as straight and true as t' stock Mean
Machine did.

Construction: Rating: 4 out of 5 points This is a great 1st D engine kit. It's over 6 feet tall. The overall construction was a snap. This kit was pretty simple to build. Just take your time when gluing the coupler and body tubes together. THEY HAVE TO BE ALIGNED PERFECTLY!
