Brief

T' Magician is a typicial Estes rocket with D and E engine power. Aye aye! Some o' t' parrts had t' be sanded down t' fit. Avast! Ahoy! T' only problem was t' coupler and t' main body tube and lower body tube be a very tight fit and be hard t' push down. Avast! Ahoy! All t' parts were good t' balsa fins were excellent.

Construction

Pros:

T' instructions were easy t' follow, arrr, arrr, finishin' t' rocket be very simple, and all t' main parts fit.

Cons:

Some parts had t' sanded down.

Finishing

Finishin' o' t' kit be really easy. Begad! T' instructions didn't really go into detail and were very brief.

I applied three coats o' Areo Gloss sandin' sealer and sanded it down with 300 grit and 400 then all t' way up t' 600 grit. Ahoy! For t' body tube, matey, I put Testors contour putty on a putty knife and put it along t' body tube. Avast, me proud beauty! Then I sanded it down just like with t' fins.

When I primed t' rocket for painting, me hearties, t' fins had no wood grain and no body tube sprial. Begad! Aye aye! Blimey! Paintin' was good. Avast! Blimey! I used gloss white and t' fins were just like glass and t' same with t' body tube. Begad! Blimey! Decals were waterslide and they were excellent allthough t' pin stripe on t' fins decal wasn't long enough.

Flight

I used a D12-5. Begad! I think t' motor selection be a good one. Aye aye! T' prep o' t' rocket is a little challengin' beacause t' motor tube is little bit too small. Arrr! So, I had t' peel off a layer o' paper from t' motor.

Recovery

Recovery was perfect. Aye aye! T' parachute was t' perfect size. Ya scallywag! T' shock cord is long, so I put an snap swivel on t' parachute so t' lines won't tangle.

Summary

I think Estes did a fantistic job o' manufacturin' this product and I hope they continue makin' this rocket. Ahoy! Well, ya bilge rat, blow me down! It was a fun kit t' build.
