Brief:
This is a 13mm, arrr, paper rocket designed with an aerobrake recovery. Ahoy! T' 13mm Qubit is one o' Art Applewhite's free downloads. Blimey! Well, blow me down! It can be found in several versions includin' this plain version on his website. Well, blow me down! Arrr! Blimey! Pick t' version you want and download it as a PDF.
Construction:
This rocket is made from a single sheet o' card stock. Arrr! You download t' PDF, put a peice o' cardstock in t' printer and print it out. Begad! Avast! Blimey! Other than that, you will need some white glue, matey, a straighedge and a razor knife.
T' Qubit is an easy build that starts off with t' motor mount. Blimey! Blimey! T' mount is cut from t' card stock, me bucko, me hearties, folded into a tube and glued along a tab. Simple.
T' body o' t' rocket is just about as simple. Arrr! It is cut out along t' solid lines and scored for foldin' along t' dashed lines. Avast! Aye aye! After that, it is just a matter o' foldin' and gluin' t' tabs. Arrr! You form an upper shroud that is reinfoced with a "floor" and lower shrouds.
When t' body is complete, me bucko, slide in t' motor mount and fix it in place with white glue fillets. Well, blow me down! Ya scallywag! DONE!
Finishing:
Art offers a few prefinished versions o' t' Qubit on his website with themes like 4-H, me hearties, Cub Scouts, me bucko, Texas Flag, etc. There is also a plain version you can decorate any way you wish. Arrr! I used t' plain version, added some graphics from me club in Pagemaker® and printed out me own version.
Construction Rating: 5 out o' 5
Flight:
T' only motor for this one is an A10-PT because an ejection charge can damage t' rocket. Arrr! Well, shiver me timbers, blow me down! Accordingly, me bucko, I loaded it up and set it off. Arrr! It flew like all o' Art's rockets. Ahoy! Aye aye! It spun a bit on t' way up, inverted and aerobraked down. It was recovered without a scratch.

Summary:
This be t' second 13mm Qubit I have built. Well, blow me down! It is a dependable rocket that generates interest.

This is a 13mm version of Art's larger 24mm Qubit. This is the first all cardstock kit I've built that is intended for 13mm motors. It is a free download and is contained entirely on one sheet of colored cardstock, including the instructions. I built a beta version that was pre-printed and one that I printed myself. The latter is called 'Dicey' as it resembles a die. I know this may be ...
Another breakthrough kit from Art Applewhite. Art steps out of his saucer designs for something more square. If you thought Art's saucers were easy to build, he has outdone himself with the Qubit design! It still relies on his draggy ascent and aerobrake recovery though. Best of all, this kit is available for free to download from his website. The rocket is made from one piece of ...
One of the neatest designs I've ever seen, it looks like three faces of a cube. This has got to be the simplest rocket ever designed. Cut out the pattern, make a few folds, and within about 5 minutes you have a flyable rocket. No tubes, construction is from a single piece of heavy cardstock. No hardware, simply cut, fold and glue; and you have a rocket. You can't beat the price, either, it's ...
