Flight Log - 2015-12-12 - Ken E. Coyote's TLP Indigo

Launch Pad kit...lots of work and very different construction due to low initial cost and very light materials.  I found it very enjoyable to build; however it is on the delicate side.

Flight Date: 2015-12-12
Rocket Name: TLP Indigo
Kit Name: The Launch Pad - Indigo {Kit}
Flyer's Name: Ken E. Coyote
Motors: E20-4W
Expected Altitude: 800 Feet
Wind Speed: 3.00 mph
Launch Site: Radical Rocketeers
Actual Altitude: 700 Feet

Very nice flight! Finally flew this rocket after having built it over a year and a half earlier!  Despite not being sure how/if this would fly, it flew up nicely enough...rose off the rail (I used buttons) and then arced slightly at about 70 degrees, continued along that path for a bit, then seemed to almost hit a "step" (likely some odd cross wind pattern over the field I had noticed earlier), then continued along the path again, had good event and the mylar chute came out nicely (always holding my breath on those mylar chutes!). Nice recovery not too far away on grass. E20-4Ws are great for this rocket!

Note:  I've held off on launching it since it's light weight and large forward fins (means bad to launch in any wind in my opinion).  Unfortunately I had stored it in a box for over a month with other rockets on top and this left the fins splayed.  I tried to bend them back best I could, but they were still a bit "off", so this flight included quite a lot of unknowns for me.
