Inspiration:
First off, thanks t' Bob Fortune for his advice on tryin' t' make this non-offensive, no offence was intended, so I hope none is taken..This is me first attempt at an Odd-Roc, ya bilge rat, me son's and I just discovered Model Rockets recently and they are GREAT! A really easy project, ya bilge rat, it just came t' me as I took it away from t' baby, as he rummaged through t' bathroom...hmmm, matey, looks like a rocket!
Parts List:
Airframe - Available in 12 packs from your local Drug Store. Apparently they allow you t' go swimming, arrr, ya bilge rat, horseback riding, play tennis and many other activities..my boys really want some, arrr, so they can enjoy all o' these activities!
Motor retention - Green paper clip (you can even pick your own color!)
Fins - Balsa off t' floor(3/32)
Keepin' it all Together - White glue
Construction:
Pretty basic, measured t' paper clip t' t' appropriate size, glued it on, glued t' fins on, glued t' string(provided) t' t' lower "airframe"
Launch:
T' launch was Great! Although cloudy, a great day here in t' great white north (South Western Ontario, arrr, ya bilge rat, Canada), nay too cold, and almost no wind! Took off straight and true, ya bilge rat, on an A3-4T, ya bilge rat, deployed just after apogee, and floated down t' earth slowly, and gracefully. Begad! I have no idea what t' altitude was, shiver me timbers, but it be cool!
Recovery:
Recovered about 30 feet from t' launch pad, in far better shape than I imagined! It may be a good thin' they come in 12 packs, me bucko, as it appears t' "streamer" loses it's shape, me bucko, and will likely be more work than it is worth t' repack it...My guess is it would be easier t' keep t' lower airframe (for t' fins), me bucko, and go back t' t' box for replacement parts.
