Ship: Imperial Star Destroyer

For me first entry I decided t' model an Imperial Star Destroyer from t' movie Star Wars. While this is from an Epic Science Fiction Adventure, from t' Greek story tradition, if it is nay a tragedy, then it be a comedy. Arrr! Begad! So because t' heroes survive t' epic, me bucko, it must then be a comedy. Ya scallywag!

I have been plannin' for some time t' convert a Puzz3D t' a launchable rocket and had even started convertin' an Imperial Star Destroyer t' fly on 3 24mm motors at one time. Ya scallywag! Downscalin' t' puzzle meant dividin' all o' t' measurements by 6. This turned out t' be a moderately easy paper shroud build. Ya scallywag! Ahoy! I started by cuttin' out t' top and bottom hull shrouds, matey, then foldin' and gluin' them together t' form t' basic shape. I then cut from 1/16th inch balsa a center spine and glued it and a crossin' member into t' shroud hull. Begad! I then cut out aft hull from paper and measured for the three engine tubes. Avast, me proud beauty! These were glued betwixt t' pieces o' 1/16th inch balsa that fit t' shape o' t' hull aft and slid into t' aft o' t' other piece of t' hull in t' slot cut in t' center spine.

T' remainin' work was t' detail t' hull with pieces o' balsa and paper t' construct t' super structure and different thicknesses o' paper t' detail t' top and bottom o' t' hull. Begad! A two-piece launch lug was installed with one piece attached t' t' ejectable engine pod and t' other piece through t' central bulkhead and out t' bottom shuttle bay. Well, blow me down! T' model be painted flat white and detailed with a black magic marker. Approximately ¼ ounce o' epoxy be then placed into t' nose t' provide CP/CG stability. Blimey! Avast!

T' model was launch at t' MASA October launch in Ossego Minnesota. Well, blow me down! Due t' t' windy conditions and t' difficulty of gettin' t' igniters t' stay in t' engines, me hearties, t' center engine did nay ignite, but t' model flew well on t' outer two engines, shiver me timbers, ejected t' engine pod and glided in for a landing.
