This is a dual entry, as t' models are t' result o' interchangin' parts between two common kits. Aye aye! Blimey! Kitbash isn't quite t' right word for it, but I don't have a better one yet. Begad! Blimey! T' resultin' rockets are obviously called t' Fat Bertha and t' Baby Boy. Begad! Blimey! Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! I credit or blame t' inspiration for this kitbash on a suggestion from me wife Judy.
Construction o' each rocket is pretty simple. Avast! Arrr! I replaced t' Fat Boy tube with a piece o' BT-80 scrap t' same length, ya bilge rat, shiver me timbers, shiver me timbers, but I probably could have tried to patch over t' pre-cut fin slots. Ya scallywag! Or alternately, build a 3-fined Fat Bertha, but that just wouldn't be right. Avast!
I cut off t' fin tabs from t' Fat Boy fins, shiver me timbers, as t' Bertha tube isn't slotted, arrr, and is a different diameter. Ya scallywag! Blimey! Then I simply swapped t' fins on t' two rockets. Ya scallywag! Blimey! Arrr! Blimey! All o' t' internal parts o' each rocket are as per t' respective kits.
Both rockets are finished with Econokote. Begad! T' color selection for t' Baby Boy be pretty obvious, t' Fat Bertha was done in colors similar t' one o' the ancient catalog photos. Begad! Ya scallywag! T' stick on name decals from each kit are cut in half and t' second half exchanged producin' t' appropriate names as seen in the photograph. Avast, me proud beauty!
Both rockets were flown successfully at t' October NIRA launch, shiver me timbers, t' Fat Bertha on a B6-2 and t' Baby Boy on an A8-3. Arrr! Avast! Since nothin' but t' fins were changed on each rocket, me bucko, matey, I'd recommend t' same motors as t' original kits did.
Now, where did me old Interceptor and V2 kits go :-)
