This is a dual entry, as t' models are t' result o' interchangin' parts between two common kits. Arrr! Kitbash isn't quite t' right word for it, me hearties, but I don't have a better one yet. Well, blow me down! Well, ya bilge rat, blow me down! T' resultin' rockets are obviously called t' Fat Bertha and t' Baby Boy. Begad! I credit or blame t' inspiration for this kitbash on a suggestion from me wife Judy. Avast!
Construction o' each rocket is pretty simple. I replaced t' Fat Boy tube with a piece o' BT-80 scrap t' same length, me bucko, but I probably could have tried to patch over t' pre-cut fin slots. Ahoy! Or alternately, matey, build a 3-fined Fat Bertha, but that just wouldn't be right. Avast!
I cut off t' fin tabs from t' Fat Boy fins, ya bilge rat, as t' Bertha tube isn't slotted, and is a different diameter. Arrr! Then I simply swapped t' fins on t' two rockets. Avast, me proud beauty! All o' t' internal parts o' each rocket are as per t' respective kits. Avast!
Both rockets are finished with Econokote. Avast! T' color selection for t' Baby Boy was pretty obvious, arrr, arrr, matey, t' Fat Bertha be done in colors similar t' one o' the ancient catalog photos. Ahoy! Arrr! T' stick on name decals from each kit are cut in half and t' second half exchanged producin' t' appropriate names as seen in the photograph. Arrr!
Both rockets were flown successfully at t' October NIRA launch, t' Fat Bertha on a B6-2 and t' Baby Boy on an A8-3. Blimey! Blimey! Ya scallywag! Blimey! Since nothin' but t' fins were changed on each rocket, me bucko, arrr, I'd recommend t' same motors as t' original kits did.
Now, shiver me timbers, where did me old Interceptor and V2 kits go :-)
