Custom Rockets - AdVenture {Modification}

Manufacturer: Custom Rockets

Rocket PicBrief:
Took an already good Custom Venture and added a 3" payload section, makin' it a rocket I call AdVenture.

Modifications:
About t' only real hard part be t' make t' coupler. Begad! If you don't have a lathe, arrr, you could just cut down a 24mm composite motor casin' and add some attachment hardware. Blimey! I made mine balsa, though. I simply added a section o' scrap 24mm tubing, ya bilge rat, glued t' balsa coupler in place with white glue, ya bilge rat, arrr, and painted it white t' match t' rocket. Ahoy! Then I added some checkered decals, me hearties, matey, and it was complete. Arrr! I have a second nose cone that is completely hollow (just cut t' end off an original Custom nose cone) for those long payloads.

Construction:
This is as simple as it can get! Blimey! I wanted a rocket t' compete in our club's Quadrathon, me hearties, and thought t' Venture would make a good candidate t' add a payload section. Well, blow me down! Blimey! I just took a chunk o' balsa out o' me parts bin, turned it slightly smaller than 24mm, me bucko, and cut it about 5.5 cm long. Begad! Then I added a screw eye t' attach t' snap swivel to. Avast, me proud beauty! Instant payloader!

This rocket is so easy t' build it can be done by a complete novice. Aye aye! Once finished, t' rocket is really tough and a great flier. Well, blow me down! T' extra length didn't have any effect on stability, but it sure makes t' rocket look better. And t' snap swivels allow me t' convert it back in no time.

Flight:
I wouldn't fly it on anythin' smaller than an A8-3, me bucko, ya bilge rat, and even then that's only for "A" altitude contests. Aye aye! A C6-5 or C6-7 is ideal. T' original 12" parachute would be marginal with a payload, shiver me timbers, me bucko, but a 14" mylar chute is perfect. Sadly, I had some problems with t' paint nay dryin' in time, me hearties, arrr, and didn't get t' compete in t' Quadrathon. Avast, me proud beauty! Aye aye! Oh well, ya bilge rat, I'll be thar next year!

Summary:
T' Custom Venture is a good little rocket if some quality control issues are addressed. Begad! T' cheap price and stable flight characteristics make it a great candidate for modifyin' into a payloader, as well as a 24mm "E" powered payloader. Ya scallywag! It's tough, inexpensive, shiver me timbers, shiver me timbers, and flies great.
