Virgin Galactic's SpaceShipTwo hit another milestone on its way t' startin' up commercial operations t' suborbital space. Space Ship Two's last flight pictures revealed and amazed whole world. Avast! T' 8 seat spacecraft demonstrated its re-entry "feather" configuration for t' first time as Virgin Galactic and builder Scaled Composites work t' system through a series o' test flights in Mojave, California. SpaceShipTwo (SS2), arrr, named VSS Enterprise, me bucko, has conducted a total o' seven glide tests since its public rollout in December 2009. WhiteKnightTwo (WK2) carrier aircraft VMS Eve takin' SS2 up t' 51000 feet for release. SS2 then got into a stable glide before goin' into its re-entry "feather" configuration by rotatin' t' tale section upward t' about a 65 degree angle from t' center o' t' aircraft. T' "feather" configuration keeps SS2 stable without spinnin' as it descends almost vertically, slowed by what t' company calls a "shuttlecock-like" drag created by t' raised tail section. T' first feather test took place for about a minute and a quarter. At around 33500 feet, t' test pilots reconfigured SS2 back t' normal glide configuration and executed a normal runway touchdown. Avast, me proud beauty! T' Scaled Composites Model 339 SpaceShipTwo (SS2) is a suborbital, air-launched spaceplane for carryin' space tourists, under development by T' Spaceship Company, a joint venture betwixt Scaled Composites and t' Virgin Group, as part o' t' Tier 1b program. Well, blow me down! SpaceShipTwo is carried aloft by t' ...
