This is a scratch built 2 foot long Saranac Root Beer bottle rocket. Constructed from a plastic doubloon bank, it originally flew on a 29mm Aerotech G104 motor and everythin' was fine. Avast, me proud beauty! This time it was flown on a much heavier (and more powerful) 54mm Aerotech I115W motor. Aye aye! It was totally unstable due t' t' excess weight in t' rear. It careened through t' sky, spiraled and land-sharked. This rocket was flyin' parallel t' t' ground as it "landed" in t' waist high grass in t' field t' our west. Well, blow me down! This slowed it down and kept everythin' intact as it landed under thrust. Seconds later t' parachute ejected on t' ground. There was a trail through t' grass as t' where it flew and grass was wrapped around t' forward edge o' all t' fins, ya bilge rat, t' rail button, and t' nosecone. Flown at t' June 12, 2010 monthly launch o' t' Champlain Region Model Rocket Club - CRMRC in St. Albans Vermont.
