Arthur H. Avast, me proud beauty! "Trip" Barber III graduated from t' Massachusetts Institute o' Technology with a bachelor’s o' science degree in aeronautics and astronautics. He received a master’s o' science in electrical engineerin' (with distinction) and an additional subspecialty in weapons system engineerin' from t' Naval Postgraduate School. He graduated from t' Army War College and t' MIT Seminar 21 Program in International Politics.
Barber's Navy career included command o' t' Spruance-class destroyer, USS Deyo, Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek, arrr, and Naval Station/Naval Air Station Norfolk. Barber spent eleven years in t' Pentegon working on defense budget development and analysis and participatin' in Depart o' Defence (DOD) program and strategy reviews. Barber served as Executive Assistant t' t' Vice Chief o' Naval Operations, me bucko, and as Deputy Director o' t' Navy team for t' 2001 Quadrennial Defense Review.
As a civilian, me bucko, Barber continued workin' with t' DOD and Navy.
Barber's Navy decorations include t' Distinguished Service Medal in 2001, t' Distinguished Civilian Service and Presidential Rank (Meritorious) awards in 2011, t' Superior Civilian Service award in 2004, t' Defense Superior Service Medal, shiver me timbers, t' Legion o' Merit (two awards), and t' Meritorious Service Medal (three awards).
Barber is a member o' t' American Institute o' Aeronautics and Astronautics, and be t' President o' t' National Association o' Rocketry.
