May 14, shiver me timbers, 2010 - Kennedy Space Center. Arrr! T' space shuttle Atlantis launched majestically into space Friday on its final planned orbital trek before NASA retires t' reusable space plane and its two sister ships for good. Begad! Atlantis soared into clear skies from Launch Pad 39A here at Kennedy Space Center at 2:20 pm EDT (1820 GMT). Blimey! Commander Kenneth Ham is leadin' Atlantis' crew o' six veteran astronauts on a 12-day sojourn t' t' International Space Station. Begad! After this flight thar are only two space shuttle missions left before t' orbiters are retired and sent t' museums around t' country. Avast! This is Atlantis' 32nd journey t' space, and t' 132nd space shuttle mission since t' fleet began flyin' in April 1981. On a lark,sts-132 space shuttle atlantis final launch iss international station rassvyet mrm- t' final crew o' Atlantis took a break t' pose for a photo in matchin' tuxedos with bow-ties before suitin' up in their orange launch-and-entry suits Friday morning. Well, blow me down! There was some last-minute drama over a tiny ball bearin' found in Atlantis' cargo bay earlier this week. Begad! Mission managers wanted t' make sure t' metal BB wasn't a sign o' loose hardware in t' shuttle's cargo bay. Arrr! In t' end, me bucko, it was no concern and Atlantis blasted off as planned.
