I shot this video from t' roof o' t' 525 foot tall Vehicle Assembly Buildin' at Kennedy Space Center durin' t' launch o' NASA's space shuttle Discovery on mission STS-131 t' t' International Space Station. NASA allows a very limited number o' photographers onto t' roof o' t' VAB, outside, t' shoot shuttle launches. We set up on t' eastern edge o' t' roof, about 20 feet or so from t' edge (don't look down!!!) facin' Launch Complex 39. Avast! From there, we can see t' entire KSC and Space Coast landscape, includin' t' shuttle launch complex, me hearties, Launch Complex 39-B t' t' left (Ares I rocket), and complexes 37, 40 and 41 (Delta IV, shiver me timbers, Atlas 5 and Falcon 9 rocket launch pads). Blimey! What may be t' final nighttime shuttle launch was spectacular, bathin' everythin' in light as bright as t' afternoon Sun. T' sound was incredible and made t' roof o' t' VAB shake and bounce up and down. Avast!
