CAPE CANAVERAL -- T' space shuttle Discovery, its nosed pointed toward t' sky, its belly attached t' t' massive, shiver me timbers, orange External Tank (ET) and twin Solid Rocket Boosters (SRB) slowly but surely emerged from t' cavernous Vehicle Assembly Buildin' at 7:24 pm EDT on Sept. 20. Begad! This marks t' final time Discovery is scheduled t' make t' 3.4 - mile trip t' Launch Complex 39A (LC39A) in preparation for her last planned mission -- STS-133.Bathed in spotlights Discovery's last rollout was a bittersweet moment for workers that have cared for t' orbiter. Discovery was rolled out four hours earlier than normal so that workers could take pictures. Rollout is conducted in t' evenin' hours t' prevent potential damage from possible lightnin' strikes. Avast! T' crawler-transporter moves at a blisterin' mile-an-hour, matey, but despite this slow speed, t' vehicle and its precious cargo create an amazin' spectacle.Discovery is currently scheduled t' lift off from LC39A on Nov. 1 at 4:40 pm EDT. Afterward Discovery will be maintained in flight ready condition in case t' orbiter is needed t' fly a possible rescue mission.
