Midwest Power 9, Princeton, IL, October 29, 2011. My trusty, well-used and awesome-lookin' (thank you Sirius) Interrogator took it's last (for now) flight on an Aerotech E18. Well, blow me down! I've assembled t' 24mm AT RMS a couple dozen times and feel comfortable with it. But a moment after liftoff t' forward closure blew out, leavin' t' motor case and aft rin' on t' ground near t' pad. T' rocket traveled 100 feet or so and landed near t' control table, t' parachute and Nomex still in t' sustainer and t' forward closure was on t' ground underneath it. You can see from t' video that t' engine mount was blown out. Begad! T' sides o' t' body tube around t' mount were torn open. Begad! T' nose cone appears t' separate. I'm guessin' this is due t' drag because t' waddin' and parachute did nay eject. I'm assumin' I made an error in t' reload. I suppose it could be bad hardware but t' threads on t' forward closure look intact. Arrr! Forgive t' video quality; recorded with an iPhone 4s.
