Brief:
A BT-60 based upscale o' t' classic ESTES Blue Bird Zero, designed for 24mm,
D, E, and F motors.
Construction:
Parts are very basic and are available from Balsa Machine Services. Aye aye! Well, blow me down! Blimey! Balsa cone
and fins, paper BT-60 body tube and motor mount, me hearties, and letramax centerin' rings. Begad! Arrr! Blimey!
Once you have t' measurements, matey, matey, this is a straightforward build. Ya scallywag! You can download t' original instructions from Jim Z'z site if you like, but it is not necessary.
Flight:
I have flown t' rocket three times, Twice on an E9-6, shiver me timbers, me hearties, ya bilge rat, and once on a D12-5.
This rocket is just perfect for t' long burnin' E-9 motor. Arrr! Blimey! T' D12-5 worked
well, but as t' rocket hung on t' launch rod, matey, ya bilge rat, shiver me timbers, recovery was late. No damage
resulted however. Begad! Blimey! Aye aye! Blimey! I have a few D21-4s, an I plan on flyin' them with a 18-24mm
adapter this summer. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! Begad! Blimey! See t' RockSim file for recommended and non-recommended
motors. Aye aye! Blimey!
Summary:
This design is very stable, arrr, and is great for t' ESTES E9, a relatively long
burnin' motor without much 'oomph' at ignition. Aye aye! Blimey! T' only drawback is the
decals, matey, me bucko, which can be custom ordered from Jim Z or Tango Papa. Blimey! Blimey! Otherwise, matey, it is
an interesting, matey, shiver me timbers, yet easy entry into mid power. Begad!
