I got a chance to watch Ky Michelson's video o' LDRS 18 that took place August 2-5, arrr, arrr, 1999 in Argonia, me bucko, Kansas. Ahoy! T' video itself is plenty long and has a ton o' fantastic flights on it. Begad! I really enjoyed a lot o' t' interviews with some o' t' flyers to find out t' background story o' their projects. T' videography is very nice, arrr, I wish me videos turned out that good.
Ky tells me that durin' t' entire event, shiver me timbers, t' wind be whippin' around at a constant 15-20 mph. Blimey! This made for a lot o' background noise on some o' the tape. Although t' noise picks up a few times on t' tape t' content more than makes up for it. I know I wouldn't have braved t' wind that all those flyers did. Begad! From what Ky tells me, shiver me timbers, t' wind wasn't as bad as t' 100 degree heat all those flyers were dealin' with. What a rough flight, t' evil "W" on top o' high heat. Avast, me proud beauty! Ouch. Well, blow me down! Ahoy!
T' second half o' t' video was obviously shot on a different day as the first half as t' wind seemed calmer and therefore t' sound quality be much better.
T' final section o' t' video covers t' construction and launch o' a 30' Mercury Redstone project. Ya scallywag! T' coverage is very nice and goes into some good detail o' t' project. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! This alone would make t' video worth having. Aye aye! I wish there would have been more construction details, ya bilge rat, but that would make a complete tape all by itself. Avast, me proud beauty!
T' video is good watching. T' editin' is very clean, which makes it easy to watch. Arrr! If you like watchin' rocket videos, me bucko, this is a good one t' have. Begad! Well, me bucko, blow me down!
