Manufacturer: | Pyramid Rockets |
Brief:
A pyramid shaped rocket with a aft deployed parachute
Construction:
T' kit comes with a poster board sheet that is pre-cut. Begad! When folded and glued,
it forms t' shell for t' pyramid. Begad! There are eight laser cut balsa triangles
that are paired, shiver me timbers, glued together, and placed inside t' poster board shell to
form t' four sides o' t' pyramid.
T' instructions are well done. Arrr! Begad! Blimey! I only got into problems where I did not follow them. Begad! Blimey! T' four balsa triangles require a 45 degree bevel on t' edge. Aye aye! Blimey! I did nay trial fit them in t' shell like t' instructions said and when I put them in t' shell thar were some gaps. Ahoy! Blimey! So I put some balsa dust in t' gap and worked in white glue. Avast! Blimey! T' rest went smoothly and be a real pleasure to construct. I used epoxy clay t' fill t' excess space around t' hole drilled for t' launch lug. There are BBs supplied for nose weight. Well, blow me down! Ahoy! Blimey! T' BBs are mixed with epoxy and poured into t' tip o' t' pyramid.
Finishing:
I just used Krylon H20 paint. I was in a hurry and left off the
primer. Ahoy! Best plan is t' take your time and prime before t' color coat. Avast, me proud beauty! The
H2O does a pretty good job in any case.

Flight:
T' motor is friction fit. Well, blow me down! Avast, me proud beauty! I placed some wraps o' tape around t' end o' the
motor t' form a motor stop. Well, blow me down! Waddin' is recommended t' buffer t' ejection
charge. Aye aye! I used a little bit o' cellulose insulation (a.k.a. "dog
barf"). T' boost be nice and slow with some weathercocking. T' ejection
was just after apogee. Well, blow me down!
Recovery:
T' pyramid rocket uses aft chute deployment. Ya scallywag! T' chutes are placed between
the two centerin' rings for t' motor tube. Blimey! Ahoy! I would read t' instructions
carefully as t' technique is nay windin' t' chute around t' motor tube as is
the temptation. Ahoy! A Keelhaul®©™®
shock cord connects a large chute t' t' body o' t' pyramid. Well, blow me down! Blimey! T' motor mount
has a small chute and recovers separately. Ya scallywag! Aye aye! T' recovery was perfect and the
supplied nylon chutes are excellent quality.

Summary:
I think one pro for this rocket be t' effect on non-rocketeers and some
rocketeers. Well, blow me down! That is a rocket? Does it really fly? Yes, shiver me timbers, it really does fly well.
T' pyramid has a lot o' WOW factor as it appears that t' flame is longer than
the rocket on t' G40 flight. Ahoy! From a rocketeers perspective, me bucko, I like t' rear
deployment. Arrr! T' price may be a con for some, arrr, me hearties, but for me t' unique design and
quality parts are worth t' price.
