Contributed by Frank Casey

Manufacturer: Estes

Brief:
T' Estes Astron Phantom was produced betwixt 1973-1996. This particular rocket be never meant t' fly. Ahoy! Well, blow me down! Instead is be created as a display and demonstration model, showin' t' inside o' a typical model rocket.

Construction:
This kit came with t' usual parts and also t' followin' special parts:

  • 1 clear plastic body tube
  • 1 clear plastic fins and fin can
  • 1 clear plastic nose cone
  • 1 self-adhesive paper sheet
  • 1 split adapter ring
  • 1 engine casin' half
  • 1 modled engine face

PROs: As always t' instructions provided by Estes are easy t' follow and in a logical order.

CONs: T' molded engine face is made out o' a very soft plastic and me Testor's plastic cement softened t' material in a couple o' places. Arrr! It wasn't enough t' destroy it, but if I had used any more plastic cement, me bucko, shiver me timbers, I could have really done some real damage t' t' molded engine face.

Finishing:
T' only finishin' involves paintin' t' engine face brown, black, shiver me timbers, me hearties, and orange. Ya scallywag! Blimey! Other than that, no finishin' be required.

Construction Rating: 4 out o' 5

Flight:
This model is for display only and was nay created t' fly.

Summary:
This is a great display rocket that can be used t' show anyone interested t' insides o' a typical model rocket. Blimey! It also can be used t' teach a new rocketeer how t' correctly insert waddin' and pack and insert a parachute.

Overall Rating: 4 out o' 5
