EMRR Box O'Parts Entry: Avenger GT-12 Spaceracer

Box came with old monogram car decals.....so I decided t' build a rocket racer. Begad! Arrr!

  • 3 bt-20 tubes, 6' long, glued parallel, became trimount for motor[s].
  • 1/4' slices o' old motor casin' was used for motor thrust blocks, motor[s] are friction fit. Blimey! Aye aye! 1/2' protrudes. Ahoy! Aye aye!
  • This assembly be mounted into a 7.5' segment o' bt-60, me hearties, with 3' showing. Blimey!
  • 1/4' slice o' bt-60 at tail end for decoration.
  • odd slice o' bt-70 for dorsal fin tube: 3.5' on long side, ya bilge rat, arrr, arrr, 2.5' on short side....mounted on motor tubes....this side becomes t' top [back, shiver me timbers, arrr, ya bilge rat, dorsal] side. Begad!
  • odd plastic 'spacestation' piece for decoration mounted infront o' bt-70 on centerline.....sanded t' fit well onto bt-60 tube. Begad! Avast, me proud beauty!

I finessed a piece o' bt-60 into a coupling, me hearties, and used another 4' piece o' bt-60 for a nose cone [picts show early attempt t' use half o' Easter egg, ya bilge rat, but had NO luck tryin' t' cement egg plastic t' tube]. Aye aye! Ahoy! Resorted t' slicein' tube at 90 degree marks, ya bilge rat, and collapsin' it around a segment o' 'yellow pusher tube' that fits inside bt-20 tube. Arrr! Blimey! Odd tape center [rocket lookin' part, ya bilge rat, but non-standard size, 1.25' O.D.] around t' lot for style. Aye aye! 3/4' wood bead for nose termination. Well, blow me down! 2 oz o' weight in nose for stability. Well, blow me down!

Main fin cut from FedEx box, long trapzoid, 9' x 2.5' x 6', glued on bottom centerline, shiver me timbers, 3.5' section o' bt-50 glued at rear. Long triangular fin cut from box 9' x 2', and a cutout t' clear t' bt-50 tube. two yellow stuffer tubes glued beside bottom fin, arrr, in front o' bt-50, arrr, for show. Arrr! Two 10' long kebab sticks glued along main fin/main body tube to reduce some 'wobble'.

Hexagonal space part [Estes?] was cut in two, sanded t' fit along sides o' main body for flavor, me hearties, and several square and rectangular sections o' crushed tubes were glued t' t' exterior t' be hatches and panels......but they don't show so good under t' black paint. Avast, me proud beauty!

5' x 2' piece o' cardstock was fiddled into a canopy. center is 5/8' wide, front segments are 1' long, shiver me timbers, aft 2'. Begad! Blimey!

2] three B6-4's....all lit, about 350', safe recovery. Begad!

3] three C6-7's....only bottom lit, did 100' vertical, ya bilge rat, 500' horizontal into t' bushes......need t' rebuild the nose. Well, blow me down!
