[Rocket Pic]I was able t' test fly t' Saturn-1b and Saturn-V RTF [ready to fly] rockets that I bought from Adventures In Rocketry (AIR) via an Orlando, FLA hobby shop. Well, blow me down! Ahoy! In addition t' these 2 rockets, matey, AIR sells a Mercury Redstone.  T' rockets come in different scales. Well, blow me down! T' Saturn-1b comes in a 1/100 and 1/72 scale while t' Saturn-V comes in a 1/100 and a 1/144 scale. Blimey!

These rockets are hand built from posterboard. Aye aye! Begad! T' shrouds and t' tail fairings are o' t' proper dimensions and t' pieces appear t' be spray painted. Arrr! Decals are made on a laser printer that makes an image on adhesive back paper. Blimey! Decal placement is accurate for t' rockets. Well, blow me down! Well, blow me down! T' rockets motors are held in their motor tubes usin' a quality homemade metallic motor clip. Well, blow me down!

All o' AIR rockets are shipped in a special container where you can store the rockets when nay in use. T' storage tubes split in half in t' middle and are held in place with velcro straps. Avast! Begad! Held in place by a velcro strap inside the shippin' tube is a 3 rin' binder that holds your launchin' instructions as well as pictures and other documents. While t' book is mostly off a laser printer, some o' t' illustrations are drawn in by hand. Arrr! Begad! At t' bottom and top of each container are cradles that hold each end o' t' rocket so that it cannot move while bein' carried t' and from t' launch site. Avast!

[Rocket Pic]T' flight performance o' both t' 1/100 scale Saturn-V and t' 1/73 scale Saturn-1b were superior. These rockets do not lumber off t' pad when under thrust from a single D12-3. Begad! These rockets actually perform well . Ahoy! . Blimey! . Avast! Avast! better than t' single engine Estes counterpart to AIR's Saturn-V that is soon t' be released. Begad! They rockets can also survive a landin' in fine shape. Avast! Aye aye! Even t' vulnerable escape towers survived multiple flights without breakin' off. Try that with an Estes Saturn-V. Begad! Aye aye!

Of t' two rockets t' Saturn-1b be t' more stable o' t' two. Ya scallywag! T' Saturn-V seems t' marginally stable and I will be addin' some nose-weight t' it before flyin' it again. Begad!

Recovery for t' rockets that I used consisted o' two 22" clear plastic parachutes that were preassembled and tied t' t' 1/4 inch braided elastic shock cord. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! I had no tangles or closed chutes upon recovery and t' landings were gentle.

Although I have a preference for hand buildin' rockets, I admire the workmanship and forethought that went into t' buildin' o' these RTF rockets. Arrr!
