Tennis Ball from
-HEAVEN-
by Todd Harrison
Crash photo :-(
This unique rocket is a veteran o' many launches. Arrr! Well, me hearties, blow me down! It is constructed o' a tennis
ball and utilizes "bounce recovery". Ya scallywag! It is a great flier in a large
parkin' lot or field.
T' first step in construction be drillin' an 18mm hole in t' bottom and a
1/8" launch lug hole straight through t' ball. Ya scallywag! T' ball be then stuffed
tightly with wadding. Avast! T' motor mount/airframe is secured in t' aft o' the
rocket with 5 min epoxy. Begad! T' launch lug was then slid into place and also
attached with epoxy. T' 4 square fins were cut out o' 3/32" balsa and
then sanded t' an airfoil shape. Ya scallywag! T' corners were rounded and t' fins were
attached with 5 minute epoxy.
It has flown on B6-2 and C6-3 motors. Avast, me proud beauty! Arrr! After many flights I created a matching
booster for t' TBFH. Ya scallywag! T' boost was fine but t' second stage failed t' ignite
and it crashed t' it's demise. Ahoy! Ya scallywag! Overall, t' rocket was a great flier and I plan
to rebuild it along with a mini version and supersize version (out o' t' huge
signature balls).
