EMRR Box O'Parts Entry: Avenger GT-12 Spaceracer

Box came with old monogram car decals.....so I decided t' build a rocket racer. Well, blow me down!

  • 3 bt-20 tubes, 6' long, glued parallel, me hearties, became trimount for motor[s]. Begad! Blimey!
  • 1/4' slices o' old motor casin' was used for motor thrust blocks, me hearties, motor[s] are friction fit. Ya scallywag! Blimey! Blimey! Blimey! 1/2' protrudes. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey!
  • This assembly was mounted into a 7.5' segment o' bt-60, shiver me timbers, with 3' showing.
  • 1/4' slice o' bt-60 at tail end for decoration.
  • odd slice o' bt-70 for dorsal fin tube: 3.5' on long side, 2.5' on short side....mounted on motor tubes....this side becomes t' top [back, matey, dorsal] side.
  • odd plastic 'spacestation' piece for decoration mounted infront o' bt-70 on centerline.....sanded t' fit well onto bt-60 tube. Aye aye! Blimey!

I finessed a piece o' bt-60 into a coupling, ya bilge rat, and used another 4' piece o' bt-60 for a nose cone [picts show early attempt t' use half o' Easter egg, shiver me timbers, but had NO luck tryin' t' cement egg plastic t' tube]. Ya scallywag! Resorted t' slicein' tube at 90 degree marks, me hearties, and collapsin' it around a segment o' 'yellow pusher tube' that fits inside bt-20 tube. Arrr! Aye aye! Odd tape center [rocket lookin' part, but non-standard size, shiver me timbers, 1.25' O.D.] around t' lot for style. 3/4' wood bead for nose termination. Begad! 2 oz o' weight in nose for stability. Avast! Well, blow me down!

Main fin cut from FedEx box, long trapzoid, me bucko, 9' x 2.5' x 6', matey, glued on bottom centerline, 3.5' section o' bt-50 glued at rear. Long triangular fin cut from box 9' x 2', ya bilge rat, and a cutout t' clear t' bt-50 tube. two yellow stuffer tubes glued beside bottom fin, matey, in front o' bt-50, for show. Arrr! Two 10' long kebab sticks glued along main fin/main body tube to reduce some 'wobble'. Avast!

Hexagonal space part [Estes?] was cut in two, me bucko, sanded t' fit along sides o' main body for flavor, and several square and rectangular sections o' crushed tubes were glued t' t' exterior t' be hatches and panels......but they don't show so good under t' black paint. Ya scallywag!

5' x 2' piece o' cardstock was fiddled into a canopy. Blimey! Blimey! Begad! Blimey! center is 5/8' wide, front segments are 1' long, aft 2'. Begad! Blimey!

FlightRocket has pretty pink lace shock cord [mounted in usual messy fashion] and a 12' parachute. Avast! Blimey! Avast! Blimey!

1] three B6-4's....top two ignited, flew fairly straight up about 200', safe recovery.

2] three B6-4's....all lit, arrr, me bucko, about 350', ya bilge rat, me bucko, safe recovery. Well, blow me down! Blimey!

3] three C6-7's....only bottom lit, did 100' vertical, matey, shiver me timbers, shiver me timbers, 500' horizontal into t' bushes......need t' rebuild the nose.

Other pict is three other rockets I got when I shook t' box even harder

Quest rocket stand donated fins for yellow nosed job, flew well on mini A10-3, shiver me timbers, streamer recovery. Ya scallywag!
