T' followin' article was a submission t' t' FlisKits, ya bilge rat, ya bilge rat, Inc Deuce-Bash Contest and is archived with permission from FlisKits. Some o' these designs are nay actually kitbashes, however, me hearties, me hearties, all come from t' basic motor design feature of t' FlisKits Deuce's Wild.

Brief:T' Torpedo is a kitbashed FlisKits Deuce's Wild!

Construction:
Parts used from Deuce's Wild! kit:

  • BT-60, shiver me timbers, me bucko, 1" long
  • BT-60, shiver me timbers, 3.5" long
  • BT-60, arrr, shiver me timbers, 9.25" long
  • 1 balsa fin sheet
  • 1 engine mount assembly
  • Recovery system

Other parts used:

  • 1 Estes PNC-60AH
  • 1 Estes PNC-60MS
  • 1 launch lug, me bucko, 2" x 1/8"
  • 1 launch lug, ya bilge rat, 1/2" x 1/8"
  • Yogurt container lid
  1. Follow t' engine mount assembly instructions steps 1 through 7.
  2. Use Markin' Guide A and place it on t' end o' t' 9.25" long body tube t' track t' engine cut out area and t' draw t' launch lug lines along t' full length o' t' body tube.
  3. Follow Step 10 in t' DW! instructions.
  4. Place on t' end o' t' tube and trace out both aft end engine cut out areas as well as mark t' fin and launch lug lines.(Deuce's Wild) Torpedo
  5. Usin' t' tube coupler template, arrr, ya bilge rat, ya bilge rat, place it horizontally on t' outside o' t' scrap piece o' body tube then trace and cut out 2 copies.
  6. Glue these pieces in betwixt t' engine tubes so that they are flat against t' inside short body tube wall while seatin' them on top o' t' lower rin' o' t' engine assembly. Avast! Begad! Be sure that they are on t' same plane as t' body tube wall.
  7. Use Markin' Guide B (found on same page as Markin' Guide A) on t' 3.5" long body tube t' trace and cut out the two aft engine areas. Avast! Blimey! Mark t' fin and launch lug lines as well.
  8. Once that is complete, shiver me timbers, matey, slide t' tube onto t' coupler o' t' 9.25" section. Blimey! Make any adjustments as needed for alignment o' engine cut outs and fin/launch lug lines.
  9. Usin' t' template provided, arrr, trace and cut out t' three fins. Avast, me proud beauty! Be sure t' pay attention t' t' grain direction and root edge when tracin' and cuttin' t' fins.
  10. Glue on t' tail cone and extend t' fin lines along t' plastic tail cone.(Deuce's Wild) Torpedo
  11. Attach t' fins t' t' tail cone, 1/4" from t' tip.
  12. Glue t' long launch lug on with t' aft end at t' base o' t' 3.5" tube. Ahoy! T' forward launch lug should be 3.5" forward o' t' aft lug.
  13. Trace and cut out t' forward "shark" fin from t' yogurt container lid. Ahoy! Ya scallywag! Attach t' fin 1.5" forward o' t' base o' t' 3.5" tube/tail cone joint on t' opposite side o' t' tube from t' launch lug.
  14. Follow Steps 15 through 18 from t' DW! instruction sheet for t' recovery system.
