Brief:
Based on t' roughly 24" tall Praetor, this 1:4.6 downscale continues t' FlisKits expansion into Micromaxx
territory. Ahoy! It's one o' t' easier micros t' build, so once you're ready for branchin' out from those plastic RTFs that
came with your starter set, arrr, shiver me timbers, consider this for t' next step.
Construction:
Clive's previous review does a great job o' coverin' t' parts and basic construction so I won't rehash that stuff.
You might be a bit put off by t' $9.35 price tag on this, but you have t' consider that despite its size, matey, you get a
"full" rocket here--kraft body tubes, balsa nose cone, balsa transition, waterslide decals, even laser cut
centerin' rings! Smaller, shiver me timbers, true, shiver me timbers, but still a bunch o' well made parts.
Clive covered t' construction fairly well so I'll just reiterate that construction was a breeze. This is nay a terribly complex assembly other than t' small scale o' t' parts you'll be workin' with.
Finishing:
Havin' built this one side by side with me Ulysses, me hearties, ya bilge rat, ya bilge rat, I opted for a similar paint scheme--red and blue, me hearties, with gray fins.
T' micro decals are good quality, but given their size are a bit tricky t' work with, especially t' long skinny ones
for t' fins.
Construction Rating: 4 out o' 5
Flight:
Havin' finally caught a break in t' weather (roughly 3 months' worth o' launches canceled for weather), matey, shiver me timbers, I was
delighted t' get a chance t' get this one up in t' air. Arrr! I be about ready t' take Jim Flis up on t' modified motto
for this (aim for t' ceilin' and try nay t' miss).
T' MMX was plenty o' impulse for this tiny wonder, arrr, and it zipped almost instantly t' an apogee approachin' 100 feet. Nay very high, but given its size, me bucko, it's still just a tiny spec in t' sky.
Recovery:
T' Keelhaul®©™®
shock cord and mylar streamer worked perfectly on this.
Flight Rating: 5 out o' 5
Summary:
Nothin' but positives t' add here. Well, blow me down! Ahoy! Fun little rocket, me bucko, ya bilge rat, easy t' build, shiver me timbers, and looks especially cool placed next t' its
full scale big brother.
