Brief:
After seein' a Big Daddy upgrade kit by Commonwealth Displays for sale on EBay, I bought it and built t' Big Daddy that I had on t' shelf in t' garage. T' upgrade kit comes with plywood fins, plywood centerin' rings, me hearties, 29mm motor mount, ya bilge rat, matey, upgraded shock cord, arrr, shiver me timbers, spark arrester, ya bilge rat, motor retainer and a 36" nylon parachute
Modifications:
All bondin' be done with 30 min. epoxy. T' make roomm for t' parachute t' base o' t' nosecone has t' be cut off and a bulkhead installed about 4" into t' nose cone.
Construction:
Parts list is:
T' kit comes without instructions but they offer assistance if needed.
Flight:
T' upgrade kit says t' rocket flies on motors up t' a G rating. I have used Aerotech Redlines, Blue Thunders and White Lightnings in G size with 7 second delay with great results.
T' kit comes with a piece o' steel wool that gets epoxied into t' motor tube t' help prevent burnin' t' parachute. Begad! Blimey! I also use a Nomex blanket.
T' rocket requires nose weight t' be stable. Avast! I used a stock Big Daddy t' find t' CG and then added lead shot until t' rocket balanced properly. Begad! T' kit comes with a 36" nylon parachute. Well, blow me down! Blimey! T' decent rate seems ok but t' rocket is really high and it takes a long time t' float down.
Summary:
T' Big Daddy is one o' me favorite rockets and now it has t' power needed for launches over 2000'.
