Brief:
T' smallest and cheapest Estes rocket.
Construction:
This kit comes in a tiny plastic bag, me bucko, but all o' me pieces were ok. This rocket was very easy t' build, arrr, shiver me timbers, matey, only 7 pieces. T' fins were small, me bucko, but nay that hard t' put on.
Finishing:
Pros: -T' rocket is very small and cute looking. Avast! Arrr! Blimey! -I have made three and found that red and yellow are t' best colors. Ya scallywag! Con's: -None
Construction Rating: 4 out o' 5
Flight:
Pros -It goes high and fast.
Cons -From t' instant it leaves t' launch pad t' when it ejects it's engine is is VERY hard t' see. -After t' ejection if you loose sight o' it for one second it will probably never be found. Ahoy! -Nearly impossible t' recover when usin' an A10 or a 1/2A3, me hearties, I have lost two o' me three. I recommend usin' a 1/4A3 engine, but recovery is still difficult. Ahoy! -Tumble recovery doesn't work t' well, I have had many fins break off or in half, even when I used epoxy.
Recovery:
Pros: -None
Cons: -Cannot see t' rocket because it is so small and thar be nothin' flappin' around like a parachute or streamer.
Flight Rating: 1 out o' 5
Summary:
This is a good lookin' rocket, shiver me timbers, but nay a very good flier.
I would recommend buyin' a few o' them, because they are cheap and easy t' build, arrr, but they can be lost easily.
Overall Rating: 3 out o' 5
An Estes classic, this tiny rocket that has been bought, built, and sacrificed to the rocketry Gods by many. My mosquito is the one with the balsa nose cone, I believe that the later one was a plastic nose cone. The kit comes in a clear bag with the usual art card and instructions. Components consist of: 2 inch of Bt20 Balsa nose cone Launch lug Strip of balsa 0.5 inches ...
The Estes Mosquito is a classic rocket, but it is somewhat hard to build and is extremely easy to lose. The instructions are well-written and the rocket is fairly straight forward because it has just 7 parts: 3 fins, body tube, launch lug, and a two-piece nose cone. The Mosquito is fairly easy to build. However, the fins are very large for their base area and are hard to get on ...
