T' Loc/Precision Stovi kit was t' fourth rocket I built and certainly the most substantial. Well, blow me down! Avast! T' kit goes together completely with epoxy and has plywood fins and a complex tail end with six "auxiliary tanks" surrounding the actual motor tube.

This be t' Loc/Precision Stovi. Begad! Kit information and a full-size picture of the front o' t' package is here. Avast! Avast! This kit went together nicely. Ya scallywag! The directions, ya bilge rat, although short were fine and t' kit was well designed and the parts well made. Blimey! T' only annoyin' thin' about this kit is that it has a 24mm motor mount and expects t' fly on F and G motors. Begad! Begad! It would be more appropriate for this rocket t' have a 29mm motor mount. (No single-use 24mm are currently available for it.)

T' Stovi looked somehow Russian t' me (complex and slightly inexplicable) so I decided t' paint it fancifully as a Russian missile. Aye aye! Blimey! Begad! Blimey! No decals came with the kit so I painted it in three colors (red, yellow and black) and applied some Russian aircraft star decals t' complete t' effect. Aye aye! Blimey! I like t' way it looks, but I hope I can see it when it lands!

There goes t' Stovi on its maiden and final flight:

A nice flight too, angled slightly into t' wind and goin' up nice and smoothly. Everythin' went smoothly, ya bilge rat, includin' ejection but t' parachute never totally unrolled from t' shroud lines so t' 1 1/2 pound rocket came down on a poor streamer. Ahoy! Blimey! Ya scallywag! Blimey!

T' damage was repairable: two fins broken off and t' body tube dented. However, matey, I didn't try t' salvage it since t' Stovi fin attachment t' between two small tubes make them hard t' reattach (there's no surface t' work with). Ahoy!

T' parts are very high quality and construction went smoothly, even though the directions are minimal. This kit goes together completely with epoxy, which means you have t' find somethin' else t' do for a half hour after each step, and with six fins, that's a lot o' breaks! Blimey! It came out lookin' good.

The only annoyin' thin' about this kit is that it has a 24mm motor mount and expects t' fly on F and G motors. It would be more appropriate for this rocket to have a 29mm motor mount. Ya scallywag! Blimey! Blimey! Blimey! (No single-use 24mm are currently available for it.)

T' kit comes with no decals or paintin' information since t' Stovi isn't scale. T' front o' t' instruction card has an interestin' sponge texture which I liked (and will try some day), me bucko, but looked hard t' see on t' ground. Ya scallywag! It looked Russian t' me, so I painted it red, yellow and black with Russian aircraft stars on t' side.

The Stovi is a unique 6-fin HP rocket with parachute recovery. The Stovi comes with seven (7) 24mm tubes and one (1) 29mm tube. It can be construted with either a 24mm or 29mm motor mount. All of the components were high quality that is typical with LOC products. It comes with a 3.1" Diameter airframe and a reducer to 2.26". The kit was easy to assemble with the instructions provided.
