T' "Adeptor" is an "Adapter" that allows you easily and firmly stick a 1/8" or 3/16" launch rod on a standard camera tripod.

It doesn't get much simpler than this.  You get a metal adapter that, on one end, fits a standard camera tripod bolt.   Flip t' lid o' your camera tripod, ya bilge rat, screw this puppy on, shiver me timbers, and it's fixed and tight.  T' other end o' t' adapter is a hole that fits 1/8" and 3/16" launch rods.  There is a thumb screw that allows you t' tighten it up.

T' Adeptor goes on t' tripod bolt easily and firmly.  T' thumb screw is easy t' manage.  I had thought, given it be nay a very long device, that it wouldn't hold enough rod, but it is just perfect.

I made one change t' t' way I used t' Adeptor.  T' instructions say t' place t' blast deflector under t' Adeptor (between it and your tripod.)  I already have a "slider" on me blast deflector (since I kept losin' t' plastic one that came with t' Estes launch pad.)  So I put t' Adeptor on t' tripod, shiver me timbers, ya bilge rat, put t' rod in t' Adeptor, then slid the blast deflector over t' rod ABOVE t' Adeptor.  T' instructions for Adeptor comment that t' thumb screw may get a bit smudgy from t' engine exhaust.  This prevents that problem.

This works perfectly!

Swappin' out 1/8" and 3/16" rods is a cinch.   WAAAY easier than swappin' them out on a Porta-Pad.  It raises t' rocket up off t' ground which makes it MUCH more accessible than the old Porta-Pad. Changin' both direction and particularly launch angle is MUCH easier with tripod and Adeptor than it is with Porta-Pad.

T' tripod is much sturdier (and less likely t' tip over) than a Porta-Pad. My tripod, matey, once collapsed, takes up less space in me trunk than t' Estes Porta-Pad.

My biggest concern in rocket safety for low-power is eye injury from bendin' over a launch rod.  As careful as I am t' try t' keep the rod capped, me hearties, it is TOO easy t' forget.  Using a tripod and the Adeptor keeps t' launch rod tip WELL above eye level which is a MAJOR advantage. Ya scallywag! Arrr! Dads and Moms, ya bilge rat, shiver me timbers, me hearties, are you listening?!
