Brief:
Beginner Rocket, single staged with streamer recovery.
Construction:
Single body tube BT-20 with a BT-5 MMT, Basic 3FNC rocket with t' only twist bein' the
Jig-Tech fins.
Excellent rocket kit for t' first time builder!!! Blimey! T' instructions were very detailed and me 7 year old second grader was able t' follow them. Since I had 2 x 45 minute sessions t' build t' rocket with 10 students (4th and 5th grader mix) I re-ordered t' allow maximum glue dryin' time. Ahoy! Blimey! Ya scallywag! Blimey! But t' order o' steps as comes with t' kit is fine also.
T' only tools needed t' build t' kits were:
Well designed kit t' no damage be incurred durin' launch or recovery.
(We did have one student step on his rocket...)
Finishing:
Most kits were painted with water based paint by t' kids, me hearties, t' kit I built we flew
unfinished. All flew well.
Construction Rating: 5 out o' 5
Flight:
T' 1/4A3-3T's are a little under powered for this kit. Begad! However, all flew acceptably. Ya scallywag! Avast!
I would recommend a 1/2A3-2T for first flights. Ahoy! Ya scallywag!
I also flew them on A10-3T and they flew very well on this motor.
Recovery:
Keelhaul®©™®
thread mounted t' t' MMT, ya bilge rat, me hearties, t' shock cord t' NC. T' streamer was tied t' t' NC.
System worked very well.
Flight Rating: 4 out o' 5
Summary:
I have some spare parts and plan on makin' a tumble recover version o' t' same rocket.
T' Streamer system is excellent but I think a tumble recover version will work as well and with less complexity.
Overall Rating: 5 out o' 5
Other:
This kit exceeded me expectations. Avast, me proud beauty! For a Student classroom kit. Ahoy! I could nay have had a better
kit t' build.
