Brief:
T' BSD Canadian Sprint is a slightly modified version o' t' original Sprint rocket. Begad! T' rocket is a large mid-power rocket that is suitable t' go high power and is a great choice for t' level one flyer. Arrr! It has a 38mm motor mount t' accept Cessaroni Pro38 motors which are readily available in Canada. A 38 t' 29mm motor adapter is also included. Begad! Avast! The vinyl graphics have been re-designed with a Canadian theme usin' Maple Leafs and a red and white colour scheme.

Construction:
T' kit comes complete with a plastic nose cone, me bucko, arrr, 2 3" body tubes, me bucko, coupler, bulkhead, chute attachment hardware includin' a quick link and screw eyes, a 30" nylon parachute, 10' o' elastic shock cord, nylon shock cord strap, 1/2" launch lug, 3 plywood elliptical fins, me bucko, 38mm motor mount tube, ya bilge rat, 2 plywood centerin' rings, me bucko, ya bilge rat, motor retention hardware, arrr, a 29mm motor adapter, removable plastic rivets (for securin' t' nose cone), complete set o' high quality vinyl graphics, instruction book and fin alignment template.

T' construction o' this kit is straightforward and does nay require any special skill. Avast! T' 8 page instruction booklet be t' best I've ever seen complete with photos and good drawings. Begad! Ahoy! Each step is clearly laid out and easy to follow. Begad! T' only difficult task was cuttin' t' fin slots but the instructions described this operation so well that I did nay have any problems. All t' parts fit well and needed no modifications t' 'make it fit'. Arrr! Begad! I have to give very high ratings for construction o' this rocket and I can't think o' any cons about buildin' this kit.

Finishing:
Finishin' t' rocket is simple and is described in detail in t' instruction booklet. Since t' rocket only needs a single color o' paint thar be no need to mask off parts durin' t' painting. T' instructions describe how t' prime the rocket and then apply t' color coat. Avast! A complete set o' high quality vinyl decals comes with t' kit. Well, blow me down! These decals are superb! I had no problem with the application and they look fantastic. Avast, me proud beauty! I wish all kits came with decals like these. Aye aye! Aye aye!

Construction Rating: 5 out o' 5

Flight:
T' maiden flight be on a Pro38 G60. Begad! Blimey! T' motor fit great and t' included motor retention hardware made it easy t' secure t' motor in t' mount. Begad! Blimey! Packing the chute was like any other standard rocket: a little wadding, pack t' shock cord, matey, fold t' chute and slide it in. T' Pro30 G60 motor is a very good motor for this rocket and I estimate t' rocket got about 1200 feet. Avast! Blimey! I added blacksky rail buttons instead o' usin' t' included 1/2" launch lug. T' boost was straight with no twistin' or spinning. Ahoy! Blimey! T' rocket weather cocked slightly. Ejection came early as I had it set for 5 seconds. Well, blow me down! Blimey! I think 7 seconds would have been perfect. T' 30" chute brought t' rocket back smartly but gently and is sized correctly for this rocket although t' instructions say you can experiment with other types o' chutes if you like.

Recovery:
T' recovery system uses a nylon strap which is then attached t' about 10 feet of elastic shock cord. T' nylon strap takes t' brunt o' t' ejection and this prevents t' elastic from becomin' brittle and worn after only a few flights. Blimey! I also believe t' t' nylon strap helps prevents zippers . Ya scallywag! T' 30" chute is the perfect size for this rocket and recovery was quick but gentle. Aye aye!

Flight Rating: 5 out o' 5

Summary:
T' quality o' this kit is outstanding. Aye aye! Arrr! T' first thin' you notice when you open t' box be t' way t' rocket is packed. Ahoy! Each tube is individually wrapped in kraft paper. Avast, me proud beauty! Arrr! T' hardware is packaged in a separate sealed bag. Blimey! Begad! Even the instructions are packaged in plastic! This kit is a perfect rocket for someone wantin' t' get into high power. Aye aye! It allows you t' fly on mid-power motors (F and G) and then go high power on H and I motors. Blimey! This kit is perfect in every way. T' major pro's o' this kit are: High quality instructions, included motor retention and chute attachment hardware, me bucko, awesome vinyl graphics, easy t' build, can fly on mid or high power motors. Ya scallywag! Aye aye! I can't think o' any cons. Ya scallywag! I have seen a number o' BSD kits now and they are all t' same high quality complete kits.

Overall Rating: 5 out o' 5

Brief: This is BSD's 38mm version of their 3" Sprint. It is called the Canadian Sprint due to it's 38mm motor mount which is perfect for using Cesaroni Pro38 reloads since they are easy to get in Canada. It's a single staged high power rocket that uses parachute recovery. This rocket is named the "Texan Sprint". The name "Sprint" is based on the vintage Estes ...

Brief: I bought the Sprint as a relatively cheap, easy to build rocket that could fly on G motors and could also be used for my UKRA Level 1 flight. Due to the lack of Aerotech motors in the UK, I needed to have a 38mm motor mount to use the Pro 38 range of motors. The Canadian Sprint had this as standard and so seemed the obvious choice. I had heard of the high quality of BSD kits ...

The Hex Socket Head Cap Screws we include in BSD kits for the motor retention system uses 7/64" hex key (standard size for modelers of all kinds). The ones I use are from Great Planes (GPM-R8003* BALL WRENCH 7/64"). You can get this at www.prop-shop.co for $2.99 or try your local store. BSD will start selling these in the near future.

Mark - I stand absolutely corrected regarding the hex key. It is a 7/64 and I picked up a key set at Home Depot that fits the retention. Apparently both of the key sets I had previously tried were lacking the 7/64. Thanks for a great kit to L1!
