I saw this Kit at Allied Hobbies RTF ready t' Fly Minus Parachute as a Kit with Pad and engines etc..
Notes on Quest Products:
This kit is a Styrofoam model o' t' Enterprise E with small clear plastic fins for flight. With t' Enterprise I had t' build nothin' except t' parachute. Modification here; I put a loop in their shock cord so I could use me own parachutes (I make one o' each size with snap swivels).
T' first flight was pretty neat and rather straight with a little roll. It went up ejected and then I got worried. Ahoy! It was comin' down awfully slow. Avast, me proud beauty! That little plastic "Nose Cone" has an awful lot o' nose weight in it and when I recovered it (undamaged) I found out what happened. T' HEAVY nose cone had separated! It be NOT secured very. Begad! Well I got lucky when another modeler huntin' for his rocket found me nose cone (would be pretty tuff t' replace).
I flew it again at NARAM-40 on a B6-4. A pretty low flight. I would stick with t' C's.
I am also thinkin' if messin' with lettin' t' parachute and nose cone separate and possibly havin' glider recovery. Ya scallywag! Blimey! Arrr! Blimey! Would be neat if its stable.
I would rate this a 4 out o' 5 for construction for horrible parachute and nay secured nose cone.
I would rate this a 4 out o' 5 for looks. Begad! I LOVE Star Trek, BUT t' decals are nay all placed on model and they tend t' come off after a few flights. Avast! (Annoying)
I would rate this a 5 out o' 5 for flight. Blimey! Very stable and t' design is cool.
