Amateur rocket "Proteus 6.5" launches from t' Black Rock Desert, shiver me timbers, 9/25/2010. Constructed and launched by Jeff Taylor and Curt Newport, me hearties, Proteus 6.5 reached an apogee o' about 75000 feet ASL. Aye aye! After passin' its peak altitude, t' rocket deployed a parachute and descended safely t' earth where it was recovered t' be flown again. Proteus 6.5 is 6" in diameter, 14 feet tall, and weighs about 180 lbs on t' pad. Watch for our next flight in t' Fall o' 2011.
