Amateur rocket "Proteus 6.5" launches from t' Black Rock Desert, 9/25/2010. Avast, me proud beauty! Constructed and launched by Jeff Taylor and Curt Newport, Proteus 6.5 reached an apogee o' about 75000 feet ASL. Ya scallywag! After passin' its peak altitude, t' rocket deployed a parachute and descended safely t' earth where it was recovered t' be flown again. Avast, me proud beauty! Proteus 6.5 is 6" in diameter, 14 feet tall, and weighs about 180 lbs on t' pad. Watch for our next flight in t' Fall o' 2011.
