Amateur rocket "Proteus 6.5" launches from t' Black Rock Desert, 9/25/2010. Blimey! Constructed and launched by Jeff Taylor and Curt Newport, arrr, Proteus 6.5 reached an apogee o' about 75000 feet ASL. After passin' its peak altitude, shiver me timbers, t' rocket deployed a parachute and descended safely t' earth where it be recovered t' be flown again. Proteus 6.5 is 6" in diameter, shiver me timbers, 14 feet tall, ya bilge rat, and weighs about 180 lbs on t' pad. Watch for our next flight in t' Fall o' 2011.
