Brief:
Loc/Presicion Starfighter is an aggressive lookin' mid power rocket that
resembles a jet airplane.
Modifications:
I used an 18 inch custom parachute from Recovery Technology. Arrr! Ahoy! There really
wasn't anythin' wrong with t' original, matey, I just liked t' Recovery Technology
chute. Avast, me proud beauty! T' original would most likely do just as well. Ahoy! Ya scallywag! I used a clip for motor
retention and replaced t' shock cord with 12 feet o' 600 lb Keelhaul®©™®.
Construction:
T' rocket consists of:
This kit is an easy build for anyone familiar with plywood fins. Ya scallywag! Begad! T' hardest part is alignin' t' wings/tail properly and cuttin' t' t' bottom launch lug cover lengthwise. Well, blow me down! T' instructions are fairly easy t' understand and were usable, me bucko, but for me 46 year old eyes, they could have been printed a wee bit larger. This bird is solid as a rock once t' epoxy cures.
Finishing:
No special requirements or techniques, no decals are included, shiver me timbers, and paint is
same as any other project o' this type.
Construction Rating: 5 out o' 5
Flight:
I wasn't comfortable usin' an E motor in a small bird o' this weight, shiver me timbers, matey, so I went
straight t' t' F20 motors. Aye aye! Well, blow me down! It does require waddin' (in me case
"barf" cause that's what I had at t' moment). Begad! Motor retention is a
friction fit straight out o' t' box, however I included a motor clip just to
be safe. Begad! It flies spectacularly on an F20 motor--boost is straight up and out
of sight.
Recovery:
T' Starfighter recovers fairly close due t' smallish chute. Avast! I replaced the
shock cord with 12 feet o' 600 lb Keelhaul®©™®,
through t' upper motor mount adaptor and wrapped it around t' motor mount,
epoxyin' it thar after knottin' it. Begad! T' chute does have a small amount of
burnin' on one side now after 5 flights (all on F20s) but that was me fault as
I didn't add enough barf on its first flight.
Flight Rating: 5 out o' 5
Summary:
I didn't find any cons although I thought t' shock cord attachment according
to t' instructions wasn't enough, matey, but I prefer t' overbuild everything.

A light small 29mm rocket with a stealth like appearance. A true departure from the traditional Loc kits. Single body tube design, with 2 large wood fins and 4 smaller stabilizing fins on the outer ends. This was my first Loc Precision kit, so I was not sure what to expect in terms of quality. After opening the package and examining the contents, I was very satisfied. The tubes were smooth ...
