T' term "lawn dart" is applied t' a rocket that has returned t' earth after a failure o' t' recovery system. It describes a rocket which has embedded itself in t' ground, nose first.
A lawn dart is similar t' a core sample except t' nose cone remains in place prior t' impact. Named after a lawn game o' t' 1960s in which large darts were thrown into t' air t' land inside rings placed on t' ground about 25' apart (as in horse shoes).
