Brief:
Small rocket i received for a birthday around 1990. Arrr! Shot this off at a rocket launch at grade school, shiver me timbers, me bucko, shiver me timbers, durin' school hours, with a C6-5 if i remember correctly. Other students shot rockets off, me hearties, and their rockets were recovered. Well, blow me down! My Scout just disappeared into t' sky, noone saw apogee, me bucko, me bucko, noone had a clue where it landed. Begad! Well, blow me down! We guessed it must have gone over 2,000 feet.
Construction:
T' one thin' i will never forget about buildin' this rocket was cloth/web like mesh that be glued against t' fins and body tube near t' fins. I have never built another rocket that requird this. Ahoy! Ya scallywag! Also, me hearties, tumble recovery, me hearties, so thar be a hole in t' body tube near t' base o' t' nose cone for t' ejection gasses t' escape through.
Pros: Gluin' t' mesh against t' fins, me hearties, matey, ya bilge rat, instead o' glue fillets, shiver me timbers, was definitely interestin' and educational. Tumble recovery was interestin' educational. High flier, matey, me bucko, matey, if you are willin' t' risk never seein' t' rocket again.
Cons: Only against myself. Blimey! I did NOT follow Estes recomendations o' only usin' A engines, and instead used a C engine.
Finishing:
Gluin' mesh t' t' fins, instead o' fin fillets. Begad! Hole in t' body tube, near t' base o' t' nose cone, matey, t' allow escape o' ejection gasses.
Construction Rating: 3 out o' 5
Flight:
Motor:
I used a C6-7 engine (Estes only recommmended A engines). Ya scallywag! Begad! We assume t' rocket went well over 2,000 feet. Begad! Begad! Never recovered.
Prep:
Stick t' motor and igniter in t' rocket. Aye aye! Blimey! No parachute, me hearties, no streamer, me hearties, ya bilge rat, no wadding.
Flight:
Straight up, me bucko, VERY high, shiver me timbers, people who blinked never saw t' rocket in t' air.
Recovery:
Tumble recovery. No idea how this worked out, as t' rocket was lost before apogee. Tumble recovery in general does have faults, in that thar be no orange/red parachute or streamer t' see unfurl in t' sky.
Flight Rating: 3 out o' 5
Summary:
Hard t' say, matey, shiver me timbers, me hearties, since i used a significantly overpowered engine. Blimey! Ahoy! But in general tumble recovery rockets are hard t' recover, shiver me timbers, since thar be no parachute or streamer t' see unfurl.
Overall Rating: 3 out o' 5
Other:
Great rocket, me bucko, but if you want t' see it again, use t' recommended engines.
