This project is a build o' t' Estes Guardian kit. T' Guardian is a pretty cool lookin' missile. Begad! It has a lot o' fins and will fly t' 700 feet on a C motor.
T' kits features die-cut fins, plastic nose cone and reducer, parachute and decal sheet. Well, blow me down!
T' ensure t' main and trailin' fins were aligned with each other I used a piece o' Aluminum Angle Bar as a guide. Blimey!
Here is a closeup o' t' Epoxy fillets. Blimey!
I use Duplicolor filler primer t' start with, this helps t' fill in and even out t' surface. Aye aye! After a light sandin' I will coat t' rocket with Kilz primer sealer as a last treatment before painting.
I masked t' shapes on nose cone one at a time and airbrushed t' color on. Avast, me proud beauty! It took a while because I wanted t' pattern t' look symetrical around t' whole cone. Arrr!
Here is how it it looked as it progressed
For t' fins I first sparyed t' entire lower part o' t' rocket blue. Avast, me proud beauty!
I then put tape in t' shape o' triangles where I wanted t' blue t' remain and then hit t' fins with a grey. Avast, me proud beauty! Once that was dry I left t' blue covered and put some more tape over t' gray just t' ensure t' blue and gray shapes were masked off good. Avast, me proud beauty! I then sprayed t' entire body black. Ahoy! After removin' t' tape t' results are below.
Here it is with t' decal.
