Dynacom kits are legendary for their strength and high level o' design. Ahoy! These all-fiberglass and metal kits are t' pinnacle o' kit-built rocketry. Well, blow me down! Unfortunately, by t' time I was ready to try them in t' summary o' 1998, Dynacom had temporarily stopped taking orders due t' family medical problems. But by t' end o' t' year, they had resumed business and I ordered two kits t' Python and t' Bull Pup.

T' Bull Pup missile is a very popular subject and is often kitted and scratchbuilt. Avast, me proud beauty! You can see that t' Dynacom 5" Bull Pup kit comes closes to the AGM-12B missile and I painted it so. Unfortunately, I was in a hurry t' get it ready for t' June '99 ROC-stock so I didn't do too elaborate a job. Ya scallywag! Aye aye!

T' Pictures

This rocket was finished just under t' wire for ROC-stock (June 11-13, 1999). In fact, I didn't have time t' take pictures o' t' completed rocket before leavin' for ROC-stock, so t' picture below be taken at me camp.

T' first flight o' t' Bull Pup be on an L850. Aye aye! I wanted t' use me 76mm motor casin' and t' L850 was t' largest one for which t' rocket was clearly stable.

T' rocket zoomed right up with an impressive roar, but arced over as it flew and ended up toward t' west side o' t' range at apogee. Blimey! Blimey! We saw the parachute, arrr, and I thought I knew where it came down, matey, but we never did manage to recover t' rocket. Well, blow me down! T' perimeter o' Lucerne Dry Lake is covered with sage and my rocket is probably restin' comfortably behind one o' t' innumerable sage bushes. Aye aye! Avast, me proud beauty!

T' Kit

Of course, arrr, I had t' wait several months t' get it (good thin' I had other projects in t' works), but these rockets are definitely with t' wait. Avast, me proud beauty! There are no wood or plastic parts in t' kit; just fiberglass and aircraft aluminum. T' instructions are simple and straight-forward and kit construction should present no problems t' t' experienced high power kit builder. Avast! Ahoy!

All body parts are made out o' wound G-10 fiberglass t' t' fins are G-10 sheet. The edges o' t' fins come pre-beveled and every part is precision fit. Begad! In a way, this kit builds too easily. Avast! I built up t' airframe in only about 3 hours elapsed, arrr, which was a little too quick. Ahoy! T' kit didn't even come with instructions, arrr, but after buildin' t' Python, me bucko, it wasn't difficult t' figure out.

T' kit comes with no recovery system at all. Arrr! There wasn't even a provision for an electronics bay. I ended up lettin' a 38mm tube into t' nose cone to act as t' bay so I could use an ALTS20 altimeter. I chose a Rocketman R9C as the parachute since t' dry weight ended up at 12.55lbs.
