Brief:
This is a clone o' t' famous Estes Goblin.
Construction:
T' kit includes 1 BT, 4 precut balsa fins, me hearties, plywood CR's, ya bilge rat, an exact replica o' t' Estes Goblin nose cone, a 1/4 inch launch lug, shiver me timbers, Keelhaul®©™ shock cord and a 12 inch nylon parachute.
T' instructions are poor but then who needs them? I think I had this kit together in less than an hour. Ya scallywag! Ya scallywag! I used Titebond wood glue for t' assembly and sanded t' fins.
Finishing:
I also used some sandable primer before painting. Avast, me proud beauty! Arrr! Some light sandin' and several coats o' Rustoleum yellow finished it off. Ya scallywag! T' decals were difficult at best. Blimey! I had t' clear coat it after t' decals t' keep them on.
Construction Rating: 4 out o' 5
Flight:
She flew nice on D12-5's. Avast! T' delay could have been a little longer but that's all I had. Well, ya bilge rat, blow me down! You better have a BIG field on this because it sims at over 1300 feet. Begad! Well, blow me down! (it looked higher).
Recovery:
Nice recovery on t' chute.
Flight Rating: 5 out o' 5
Summary:
It be nice buildin' an Estes size kit with plywood centerin' rings and a nylon chute. Avast, me hearties, me proud beauty! You can't tell its a clone unless you look close. Well, blow me down! Ya scallywag! T' biggest problem was t' decals. Ahoy! Ahoy! What can I say, they suck.
Overall Rating: 4 out o' 5
Brief: Classic Estes kit that had unique styling, good graphics and super flight characteristics. I decided to clone the classic Estes Goblin. It was a popular kit for many years with Estes, and I never owned one because I couldn't afford the D motors. The plans were from the original Estes ...
Brief: By the early '70s, the Estes catalog had expanded from its Astron roots to the point that it pretty well covered the whole range of the model rocketry spectrum. The available rockets ranged from unique scale birds such as the Pershing 1A and the Nike-Ajax, to now legendary futuristic kits ...
